Semi-transparent organic photovoltaics are of interest for a variety of photovoltaic applications, including solar windows and hybrid tandem photovoltaics. The figure shows a photograph of our semi-transparent solar cell, which has a power conversion efficiency of 5.0%, with an above bandgap transmission of 34% and a sub-bandgap transmission of 81%.
In this study graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized by using Hummer’s method. Low dimension graphene quantum dot nanoparticles (GQDs) were synthesized using pulse laser irradiation. Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) analysis were applied to study the GQDs characteristic. Scanning electron microscopy illustrated the...
In this paper, a novel design of all-solid photonic bandgap fiber with ultra-low confinement loss is proposed. The confinement loss is reduced remarkably by managing the number of rods rings, up-doping level, pitch value, and rods diameters. Moreover, the designed PCF shows ultra-flattened dispersion in L- and U-band. Furthermore, a new design, based on introducing of an extra ring of air h...
This work expands the redox chemistry of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) by investigating its role in a number of SWCNT sorting processes. Using a polyethylene glycol (PEG)/dextran (DX) aqueous two-phase system, we show that electron-transfer between redox molecules and SWCNTs triggers reorganization of the surfactant coating layer, leading to strong modulation of nanotube partition in th...
The intact graphene has a zero bandgap and subsequent low on-off ratio, while modifications on graphene to open the bandgap always bring about dramatic reduction of mobility. Therefore, how to build a graphene device performing both large on-off ratio and high carrier mobility is one of the most attractive topics. Herein, we investigated the intrinsic mobility of graphene-related systems theore...
Two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), most notably, MoS2 and WS2, have attracted significant attention due to their sizable and direct bandgap characteristics. Although several interesting MoS2 and WS2-based optoelectronic devices have been reported, their processability and reproducibility are limited since their electrical properties are strongly dependent of the numbe...
Submitted for the MAR11 Meeting of The American Physical Society First-Principles Calculations of Graphene Nanomesh WILLIAM OSWALD, ZHIGANG WU, Colorado School of Mines — Graphene has recently attracted intensive attentions owing to its remarkable structural and electronic properties and its significant potential for applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices for size miniaturization...
