This paper proposes a novel method for early termination of a motion search. It first introduces an estimator of the sum of absolute difference (SAD) between the current block and a search point. After analyzing the SAD estimator, it proposes the SAD condition to decide whether the current search point is around a minimum point or not. The counter condition is used to evaluate the current searc...
We study a superreplication problem of European options with gamma constraints, in mathematical finance. The initially unbounded control problem is set back to a problem involving a viscosity PDE solution with a set of bounded controls. Then a numerical approach is introduced, inconditionnally stable with respect to the mesh steps. A generalized finite difference scheme is used since basic fini...
Multiple scattering in participating media is generally a complex phenomenon. In the limit of an optically thick medium, i.e., when the mean free path of each photon is much smaller than the medium size, the effects of multiple scattering can be approximated by a diffusion process. We introduce this approximation from the radiative transfer literature to the computer graphics community and prop...
This paper proposes a novel computational framework for improving realism and fidelity of finite element analysis simulations through experimental test data. The proposed scheme utilizes an artificial neural network to learn and compensate for the differences between a finite element analysis model simulation and corresponding experiment. The proposed computational methodology is poised to sign...
In this paper, we improve b-spline collocation method for Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers (BBMB) by using defect correction principle. The exact finite difference scheme is used to find defect and the defect correction principle is used to improve collocation method. The method is tested on somemodel problems and the numerical results have been obtained and compared.
The extended finite element method (X-FEM) is a numerical method for modeling discontinuties, such as cracks, within the standard finite element framework. In X-FEM, special functions are added to the finite element approximation. For crack modeling in linear elasticity, appropriate functions are used for modeling discontinuties along the crack length and simulating the singularity in the crack...
In this paper an exponentially fitted finite difference method is presented for solving singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems with the boundary layer. A fitting factor is introduced and the model equation is discretized by a finite difference scheme on an uniform mesh. Thomas algorithm is used to solve the tri-diagonal system. The stability of the algorithm is investigated. It ...
A master element to be employed as a general spatial rod finite element is presented. This spatially curved and pretwisted element can have variable cross-section and variable curvature change. It may also be resting on an elastic foundation. Also, a finite element formulation for a general earthquake analysis of spatial rods is presented. The theoretical foundation has lead to a general-purpos...
In this research, a new multidimensional characteristic based upwind scheme for the solution of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. The incompressible flow equations have been coupled each other by the aid of artificial compressibility method. Unlike to the traditional characteristic based (CB) schemes, the present scheme is genuinely multidimensional in that the local charact...
iv abstract this study examined the linguistic behaviors of two iranian efl teachers each of them teaching learners of two similar proficiency levels, a beginner level and an intermediate level, to investigate the relationship between the learners proficiency levels and the amounts and purposes for l1 use by the two teachers. the study was carried out to investigate whether there were differe...
