This paper points out that the treatment of utility maximization in current textbooks on microeconomic theory is deficient in at least three respects: breadth of coverage, completeness-cum-coherence of solution methods and mathematical correctness. Improvements are suggested in the form of a Kuhn-Tucker type theorem that has been customized for microeconomics. To ensure uniqueness of the optima...

This paper sketches a framework for the analysis of expectations in an evolutionary microeconomics. The core proposition is that expectations form a network structure, and that the geometry of that network will provide a suitable guide as to the dynamical behaviour of that network. It is a development towards a theory of the computational processes that construct the data set of expectations. T...
Seventeen states and the District of Columbia have passed laws that allow individuals to use marijuana for medical purposes. In this paper, I use marijuana possession arrests to estimate the impact of medical marijuana laws on marijuana usage among non-patients over the period 1988–2008. I find that these laws increase marijuana arrests among adult males by about 20 percent. The effect is stron...

Simple sum monetary aggregation approach that based upon perfect substitution of monetary components assumption is inconsistent with microeconomics theories. In this research, using quarterly data of Iran over period 1370:1–1388:1, we first calculate monetary aggregation based on divisia index for both measures of money (M1, M2) and then estimate the demand functions for money for divisia and s...
The notion of ‘mathematical impossibility’ of group decision making is founded on errors in microeconomics, game theory, and related disciplines. We highlight mathematical errors that have been committed by von Neumann and Morgenstern, Pareto, Hicks, Samuelson, and Debreu which have been propagated throughout the social sciences. Applicability of Mathematical Operations
I argue that it is microeconomics that needs foundations, not macroeconomics. Preferences need to be built on biology, and, in particular, on neuroscience. In contrast, macroeconomics could benefit from rationalizations of aggregate economic phenomena by non-equilibrium statistical physics.
