Self-assembling minimalistic peptides embedded with an organocatalytic moiety were designed. By controlling the formation of fibrils via external intervention, it was shown that activation is accelerated when organocatalyst in its supramolecular state. The effect catalysis demonstrated a Michael benchmark reaction.

Introduction: Today, research in the field of antimicrobial peptides is active. Thus, the aim of this study is to purify and determine biochemical properties (especially antimicrobial effect) of new antimicrobial peptides from skin secretions of bufo kavirensis. Methods: This is a descriptive study. The skin secretions of bufo was purified by biochemical manners and antimicrobial effects was ...

The commercial availability of random peptide libraries displayed on the M13 phage is increasing their use forstudies on epitope identification, enzyme inhibitors, receptor ligands, etc. In this study two experimentswhere planned for selection of peptides. First with sheep antibodies, the positive selector was IgG, preparedon Protein G column from a pool of 11 sheeps immunized...

Background and purpose: Rapid emergence of traditional antibiotic-resistant pathogens is one of the most important global challenges in medical sciences. To this end, substitution of current antibiotics with strong antimicrobial peptides could be of great benefit. Materials and methods: In this study, the DNA sequence encoding dermaseptin B1 (DrsB1) antimicrobial peptide derived from Phyllomed...

Abstract Plant genomes encode hundreds of receptor kinases and peptides, but the number known plant receptor-ligand pairs is limited. We report that Arabidopsis leucine-rich repeat kinase LRR-RK MALE DISCOVERER 1-INTERACTING RECEPTOR LIKE KINASE 2 (MIK2) for SERINE RICH ENDOGENOUS PEPTIDE (SCOOP) phytocytokines. MIK2 necessary sufficient immune responses triggered by multiple SCOOP suggesting t...

Recent evidence identified multiple Henipavirus species in Africa distinct from those in Southeast Asia and Australia. The reported fusion glycoprotein (F) sequence of the African Gh-M74a strain (GhV-F) is likely incorrect: a single base pair deletion near the N terminus results in multiple aberrancies. Rectifying this by adding single nucleotide insertions results in a GhV-F that now possesses...

The glycation of BSA leads to protein/peptide modifications that result in the formation of AGEs. AGEs react with the amino groups of N-terminal amino acid residues, particularly arginine and lysine residues. Enhanced AGE formation exists in the blood and tissues of diabetics, as well as in aging and other disorders. The Identification of AGEs is of great importance. Mass spectrometry has been ...
