Effects of the neutrino trapping and symmetry energy behavior are investigated in the framework of the chiral KaplanNelson model with kaon condensation. Decrease in the condensation threshold during deleptonization if found to be generic regardless uncertainties in the nucleon-kaon interactions and symmetry energy. Quantitatively however, differences are shown to be important.

Lattice calculations of matrix elements relevant for kaon decays, and in particular for ε/ε, are reviewed. The rôle of the strange quark mass is also discussed. A comparison with other non-perturbative approaches used to compute kaon decay amplitudes is made. † Presented by G. Martinelli.

Quantum marking and quantum erasure are discussed for the neutral kaon system. Contrary to other two–level systems, strangeness and lifetime of a neutral kaon state can be alternatively measured via an “active” or a “passive” procedure. This offers new quantum erasure possibilities. In particular, the operation of a quantum eraser in the “delayed choice” mode is clearly illustrated.

In this talk I describe work on computing non-leptonic matrix elements consistently with both long and short distance contributions included. On the simpler example of the π-π mass difference I explain in detail the matching procedure and the difference between various low-energy models. A unified treatment of normal nuclear matter described by Walecka's mean field theory and kaon condensed matter described by chiral perturbation theory is proposed in terms of mean fields of an effective chiral Lagrangian. We discuss the role of kaon-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon correlations in kaon condensation in dense matter.
