We propose a framework based on a parametric quadratic programming (QP) technique to solve the support vector machine (SVM) training problem. This framework, can be specialized to obtain two SVM optimization methods. The first solves the fixed bias problem, while the second starts with an optimal solution for a fixed bias problem and adjusts the bias until the optimal value is found. The later ...

A set of features is evaluated for recognition of musical instruments out of monophonic musical signals. Aiming to achieve a compact representation, the adopted features regard only spectral characteristics of sound and are limited in number. On top of these descriptors, various classification methods are implemented and tested. Over a dataset of 1007 tones from 27 musical instruments, support ...

In this paper, we study generalized quadratic forms over a division algebra with involution of the first kind in characteristic two. For this, we associate to every generalized quadratic from a quadratic form on its underlying vector space. It is shown that this form determines the isotropy behavior and the isometry class of generalized quadratic forms.

We consider support recovery in the quadratic logistic regression setting – where the target depends on both p linear terms xi and up to p quadratic terms xixj . Quadratic terms enable prediction/modeling of higher-order effects between features and the target, but when incorporated naively may involve solving a very large regression problem. We consider the sparse case, where at most s terms (...

A novel generalization of linear scale space is presented. The generalization allows for a sparse approximation of the function at a certain scale. To start with, we first consider the Tikhonov regularization viewpoint on scale space theory [15]. The sparsification is then obtained using ideas from support vector machines [22] and based on the link between sparse approximation and support vecto...

ÐThe robust Huber M-estimator, a differentiable cost function that is quadratic for small errors and linear otherwise, is modeled exactly, in the original primal space of the problem, by an easily solvable simple convex quadratic program for both linear and nonlinear support vector estimators. Previous models were significantly more complex or formulated in the dual space and most involved spec...

We present an algorithm based on convex optimization for constructing kernels for semi-supervised learning. The kernel matrices are derived from the spectral decomposition of graph Laplacians, and combine labeled and unlabeled data in a systematic fashion. Unlike previous work using diffusion kernels and Gaussian random field kernels, a nonparametric kernel approach is presented that incorporat...

Firstly, in this paper, we apply the Fuzzy Restricted Variation Method to achieve an analytical and approximate unsymmetrical fuzzy solution for Fully Fuzzy Quadratic Equation. In this application, after finding the real root of 1-cut of $tilde{A}tilde{X}^{2}+tilde{B}tilde{X}+tilde{C}=tilde{D}$, initial guess is always chosen with possible unknown parameters that leads to highly accurate soluti...

We discuss rational parameterizations of surfaces whose support functions are rational functions of the coordinates specifying the normal vector and of a given non-degenerate quadratic form. The class of these surfaces is closed under offsetting. It comprises surfaces with rational support functions and non-developable quadric surfaces, and it is a subset of the class of rational surfaces with ...

Rotation configurations for quadratic angles exhibit self-similar dynamics. Visually, it may be considered as quite evident. However, no additional details have yet been published on the exact nature of the arithmetical reasons that support this fact. In this paper, to support the existence of self-similar dynamic in 2d-configuration, we will use the constructive 1-d substitution theory in orde...
