Biomimetic pattern recognition (BPR) has been proposed for several years, but it has never been applied to iris recognition yet. In this paper, a new iris recognition method combined with BPR was proposed here. Experiments on the CASIA iris image database show that the iris recognition method based on BPR is reliable and efficient.

short term prediction of traffic flow is one of the most essential elements of all proactive traffic control systems. although various methodologies have been applied to forecast traffic parameters, several researchers have showed that compared with the individual methods, hybrid methods provide more accurate results . these results made the hybrid tools and approaches a more common method for ...

Most of the existing password-based authenticated key exchange protocols have proofs either in the indistinguishability-based security model of Bellare, Pointcheval, and Rogaway (BPR) or in the simulation-based of Boyko, MacKenzie, and Patel (BMP). Though these models provide a security level that is sufficient for most applications, they fail to consider some realistic scenarios such as partic...

In order to gain insight in tools and languages for business process modelling (BPM) and business process redesign (BPR), we present a framework for the evaluation of such languages and tools. The framework evaluates the quality of tools and languages for supporting all stages in a BPR project. It consists of four dimensions: functionality, ease of use, support of redesign trajectories, and gen...

Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) is considered by many to have ‘had its day’ with scholars such as Hansen (Foster, 1994) stating that BPR is a misnomenor, and goes onto conclude that re-engineering does not exist because business systems were never engineered in the first place, they simply developed. Yet, others such as Hales and Savoie, (1994) and Irani et al., (1997) argue that BPR is a...

Business Process Reengineering (BPR) has been hailed as a cure for many of the woes in today’s organizations. Many organizations have embarked on BPR but the results have been mixed. Failure is not uncommon but this does not appear to have affected the BPR drive to achieve dramatic improvements in organizational performance. The pragmatic goal-driven approaches adopted by corporations and other...

To achieve better performance of BPR, workflow management is integrated with BPR based on the core idea and steps of BPR. Main problems of hotel business process are studied, at the same the characteristics and advantages of WFM are introduced, which show that WFM is sound. Then BPR case of a five-star hotel in Guangzhou which adopts the WFM workflow is proposed. The rent and service charge pro...

Page xii ✍ The purpose of this thesis is to introduce a new broad approach to computing – Empirical Modelling (EM) – and to propose a way of applying this approach for system development so as to avoid the limitations of conventional approaches and integrate system development with business process reengineering (BPR). Based on the concepts of agency, observable and dependency, EM is an experie...
