The main purpose of the preliminary analyses presented in the paper was to compare the behaviour of the combustion engine piston made of different type of materials under thermal load. A thermomechanical FE analysis of the engine piston made of composite material was shown. A selected engine is installed in one of the popular polish tanks. The proposed new material is characterized by a low hys...

In this study, a practical numerical analysis has been developed in order to investigate the lubrication characteristics between a rolling piston and a crank of rotary compressors. This analysis is treated as a coupled problem of the momentum equations and the Reynolds equation of oil film. Using this analysis, the lubrication characteristics between the rolling piston and the crank for 2-cylin...

Abstract: Heart assist devices provide mechanical circulatory support for patients with end-stage heart failure. Extracorporeal heart assist devices are applied to adult and pediatric patients in the case of uniand biventricular assistance. Modern driving units provide more mobility what is an immense benefit to the quality of life of the patients. The treated heart assist device in this articl...

Dynamical aspects of an adiabatic piston are investigated, based on the mass ratio expansion of the master equation for the piston velocity distribution function. Simple theory for piston motion and relaxation of an ideal gas in a cylinder turns out to reproduce our numerical experiments quantitatively.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effect of different methods for improving the temperature gradient of a specified gasoline engine piston. With a robust FE based software, 3D thermal analyses have been carried out for the piston model. Unlike previous studies, the effects of both fully and locally ceramic layers on the crown top surface were considered. It was found that a fully cer...

In modern engines with higher compression ratios, severe pressures and non-uniform heating up is occurred for the engine parts. The piston as the most critical part among all automotive components has been the subject of numerous studies on calculation of temperature distribution, but thermal stress analyses are limited. In this study, the piston of gasoline engine XU7 which is widespread in Ir...

The principle of redundant spacings calibration has previously been described for the purpose of calibrating piston phase aberration affecting elements of a dilute aperture array using a system of linear equations in terms of the aperture phases as well as object phase information. Here we develop matrices for the correction of piston phase aberration by use of image sharpness and also by phase...

Internal combustion engines have been a relatively inexpensive and reliable source of power for applications ranging from domestic use to large scale industrial and transportation applications for most of the twentieth century. DI Diesel engines, having the evident benefit of a higher thermal efficiency than all other engines, have served for both lightduty and heavy-duty vehicles. In DI diesel...
