Let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$. For any integer $kge 1$, a signed (total) $k$-dominating functionis a function $f: V(G) rightarrow { -1, 1}$ satisfying $sum_{xin N[v]}f(x)ge k$ ($sum_{xin N(v)}f(x)ge k$)for every $vin V(G)$, where $N(v)$ is the neighborhood of $v$ and $N[v]=N(v)cup{v}$. The minimum of the values$sum_{vin V(G)}f(v)$, taken over all signed (total) $k$-dominating functi...

A composition of a positive integer n consists of an ordered sequence of positive integers whose sum is n. We investigate compositions in which the summand 2 is not allowed, and count the total number of such compositions and the number of occurrences of the summand i in all such compositions. Furthermore, we explore patterns in the values for Cj(n, 2̂), the number of compositions of n without 2...

We introduce a new class of subdivision surfaces which generalize uniform tensor product B-spline surfaces of any bi-degree to meshes of arbitrary topology. Surprisingly , this can be done using subdivision rules that involve direct neighbors only. Consequently, our schemes are very easy to implement, regardless of degree. The famous Catmull-Clark scheme is a special case. Similarly we show tha...

This study aimed to investigate the role of rest period duration (RP) on the time course of the acceleration portion (AP) and mean velocity of the concentric phase across two bench press sets to failure with a submaximal load (60% of the 1RM) using different RP. Ten elite junior kayakers performed, on four different days, two consecutive bench press sets to failure, allowing randomly 1-, 2-, 3-...

A subset S ⊆ V (G) is a double dominating set of G if S dominates every vertex of G at least twice. The double domination number dd(G) is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set of G. The double domination subdivision number sddd(G) is the minimum number of edges that must be subdivided (where each edge in G can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the double domination n...

We prove that for all positive integers t, every nvertex graph with no Kt-subdivision has at most 2 n cliques. We also prove that asymptotically, such graphs contain at most 2n cliques, where o(1) tends to zero as t tends to infinity. This strongly answers a question of D. Wood asking if the number of cliques in n-vertex graphs with no Kt-minor is at most 2 n for some constant c.

the inflation $g_{i}$ of a graph $g$ with $n(g)$ vertices and $m(g)$ edges is obtained from $g$ by replacing every vertex of degree $d$ of $g$ by a clique, which is isomorph to the complete graph $k_{d}$, and each edge $(x_{i},x_{j})$ of $g$ is replaced by an edge $(u,v)$ in such a way that $uin x_{i}$, $vin x_{j}$, and two different edges of $g$ are replaced by non-adjacent edges of $g_{i}$. t...

We show that bisecting a polygon into two equal (possibly disconnected) parts with the smallest possible total perimeter is NP-complete, and it is in fact NP-hard to approximate within any ratio. In contrast, we give a dynamic programming algorithm which nds a subdivision into two parts with total perimeter at most that of the optimum bisection, such that the two parts have areas within of each...

Thin plate splines are a well known entity of geometric design. They are defined as the minimizer of a variational problem whose differential operators approximate a simple notion of bending energy. Therefore, thin plate splines approximate surfaces with minimal bending energy and they are widely considered as the standard “fair” surface model. Such surfaces are desired for many modeling and de...

Catmull-Clark subdivision scheme provides a powerful method for building smooth and complex surfaces. But the number of faces in the uniformly refined meshes increases exponentially with respect to subdivision depth. Adaptive tessellation reduces the number of faces needed to yield a smooth approximation to the limit surface and, consequently, makes the rendering process more efficient. In this...
