Acute cholecystitis is a common surgical problem; however, the diagnosis may be difficult when the patient has situs inversus, or mirror-image reversal of the organs. Infants of diabetic mothers are significantly at higher risk for major congenital malformations, with cardiovascular anomalies that is the most frequent.
