objective(s): platelet-rich plasma (prp) has recently emerged as a promising strategy in regenerative medicine due to its multiple endogenous growth factors. little is known about the role of prp as a promoter in chondrogenesis of human adipose derived stem cells (hadscs). the aim of this study was to determine whether prp may be considered as a natural and easy achievable source of growth fact...

Background and Objective: Adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are very similar in their cell properties to bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) and can be a suitable alternative for cell therapy trials. The purpose of this study is comparison of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) in prolonged passages based on viability and auto-differentiation tow...

Acellular dermal matrix (ADM) has been in clinical use for decades in numerous surgical applications. The ability for ADM to promote cellular repopulation, revascularisation and tissue regeneration is well documented. Adipose stem cells have the ability to differentiate into mesenchymal tissue types, including bone and cartilage. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential interactio...

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES The pathological condition of obesity is accompanied by a dysfunctional adipose tissue. We postulate that subcutaneous, preperitoneal and visceral obese abdominal white adipose tissue depots could have stromal vascular fractions (SVF) with distinct composition and adipose stem cells (ASC) that would differentially account for the pathogenesis of obesity. METHODS In order...

Human adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) secrete cytokines and growth factors that can be harnessed in a paracrine fashion for promotion of angiogenesis, cell survival, and activation of endogenous stem cells. We recently showed that hypoxia is a powerful stimulus for an angiogenic activity from ASCs in vitro and here we investigate the biological significance of this paracrine activity in an in...

Enrichment of fat grafts with adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) has gained popularity due to promising preliminary results. Herein, we present two patients who were treated with ASC-enriched fat grafts following mastectomy and breast reconstruction with implants. Both exhibited favorable outcomes achieving a significant improvement of breast defects and asymmetries.

Adult mesenchymal stem cells have self-renewal and multiple differentiation potentials, and play important roles in regenerative medicine. However, their use may be limited by senescence or age of the donor, leading to changes in stem cell functionality. We investigated morphological, molecular and functional differences between bone marrow-derived (MSC) and adipose-derived (ASC) stem cells iso...

Peripheral nerve injuries resulting from trauma or disease often necessitate surgical intervention. Although the gold standard for such repairs uses nerve autografts, alternatives that do not require invasive harvesting of autologous nerve tissues are currently being designed and evaluated. We previously established the use of scaffoldless engineered neural conduits (ENCs) fabricated from prima...

Use of adult adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) as endothelial cell substitutes in vascular tissue engineering is attractive because of their availability. However, when seeded onto decellularized vascular scaffolding and exposed to physiological fluid shear force, ASCs are physically separated from the graft lumen. Herein we have investigated methods of increasing initial ASC attachment using l...

INTRODUCTION Adipose tissue is a source of multipotent adult stem cells. Most studies on human adipose-derived stem cells (ASC) have been on the early passages. Studies in extensive expansion have not been well established yet. In this study, we aim to investigate the effects of extensive expansion on the adipogenic differentiation capability of ASC. MATERIAL AND METHODS The ability of ASC to...
