We demonstrated the highest femtosecond pulse energy from Erbium-doped fiber similariton or dissipative soliton oscillators (to our best knowledge). The output spectrum can be manipulated by waveplates and filter to support 86 fs transform-limited pulse. OCIS codes: (320.7090) Ultrafast lasers; (320.7110) Ultrafast nonlinear optics;

Silica based waveguides on Si fabricated by flame hydrolysis deposition were doped with erbium ions using an aerosol doping technique, and co-doped with GeO2, P2O5 and B2O3. Erbium doping levels in the films were dependent on the nebulized solution concentration and delivery rate of the aerosol to the torch. The erbium solution concentration was varied from 4 to 8 wt%. The refractive index was ...

We report an experimental study of low-frequency (~10 kHz) self-pulsing of the output intensity in a high-concentration erbium-doped fiber laser. We suggest that the fast intensity fluctuations caused by multimode and polarization instabilities play the role of an external noise source, leading to low-frequency auto-oscillations through a coherence resonance scenario.

A 10.5 Tbit/s optical transmission (15 x 100 Gbit/s QPSK channels per core) over 2,520 km of multicore fiber is achieved using an integrated multicore transmission link consisting of directly spliced multicore components such as fan-in/fanout fiber couplers, a 60 km trench-assisted 7-core hexagonal fiber and cladding-pumped erbium-ytterbium-doped fiber amplifiers.

A wideband tunable fiber ring lasers using 253.3-cm long La-codoped bismuth-based erbium doped fiber and a narrowband tunable MEMS filter are reported. The fiber ring laser is capable of tuning over 80 nm continuously from 1545 to 1625 nm with an average output power of -3 dBm and extinction ratio of 60 dB.

The gain of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is damaged by irradiation partly because of creation of color centers responsible of excess absorption at pump and signal wavelengths. Based on the combination of thermally stimulated luminescence and spectrophotometry, this Letter demonstrates that a part of the gain loss should be associated with the reduction of the density of Er3+ ions by irradiation.

The present article is concerned with an analytical solution for some parts of rare earth doped fiber laser equations. The presented model is valid for both four and three-level fiber lasers consisting high reflectivity mirrors. A typical method to obtain initial value in the numerical solutions of fiber laser equations is shooting method, which is based on an iteration process. Whereas this st...

Laser therapy has the potential to be an effective, minimally invasive procedure in periodontal therapy. The aim of the present review was to survey the relevant literature on the clinical application of lasers as a minimally invasive treatment for periodontitis and peri-implant disease. Currently, there are a large number of published clinical studies and case reports that evaluate the adjunct...
