Efficient learning of an appropriate distance metric is an increasingly important problem in machine learning. However, current methods are limited by scalability issues or are unsuited to use with general similarity/dissimilarity constraints. In this paper, we propose an efficient metric learning method based on the max-margin framework with pairwise constraints that has a strong generalizatio...

This paper proposes a method to evaluate the size quality as well as the shape quality of constrained surface meshes, the constraint being either a given metric or the geometric metric associated with the surface geometry. In the context of numerical simulations, the metric speci cations are those related to the nite element method. The proposed measures allow to validate the surface meshes wit...

There is a general method, applicable in many situations, whereby a pseudo–Riemannian metric, invariant under the action of some Lie group, can be deformed to obtain a new metric whose geodesics can be expressed in terms of the geodesics of the old metric and the action of the Lie group. This method applied to Euclidean space and the unit sphere produces new examples of complete Riemannian metr...

This paper deals with the formulation of Maxwell’s equations in a cavity resonator in the presence of the gravitational field produced by a blackhole. The metric of space-time due to the blackhole is the Schwarzchild metric. Conventionally, this is expressed in spherical polar coordinates. In order to adapt this metric to our problem, we have considered this metric in a small region close to th...

In some recent papers, a method was developed of reducing coupled fixed point problems in (ordered) metric and various generalized metric spaces to the respective results for mappings with one variable. In this paper, we apply the mentioned method and obtain some coupled fixed point results for mappings satisfying φ-weak contractive conditions in ordered b-metric spaces. Examples show how these...

In this work‎, ‎we formulate Chatterjea contractions using graphs in metric spaces endowed with a graph ‎‎and‏ ‎‎‎‎investigate ‎the ‎existence‎ ‎of ‎fixed ‎points ‎for such mappings ‎under two different hypotheses‎. We also discuss the uniqueness of the fixed point. The given result is a generalization of Chatterjea's fixed point theorem from metric spaces to metric spaces endowed with a graph.

In this paper, we introduce a new class of implicit functions and also common property (E.A) in modified intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces and utilize the same to prove some common fixed point theorems in modified intuitionistic fuzzy metric spaces besides discussing related results and illustrative examples. We are not aware of any paper dealing with such implicit functions in modified intuit...

Little attention has focused so far on evaluating the success of online communities. This paper starts to identify some key determinants of sociability and usability that help to determine their success. Determinants of sociability include obvious measures such as the number of participants in a community, the number of messages per unit of time, members’ satisfaction, and some less obvious mea...

In this paper we define weak $F$-contractions on a‎ ‎metric space into itself by extending $F$-contractions‎ ‎introduced by D‎. ‎Wardowski (2012) and provide some fixed point‎ ‎results in complete metric spaces and in partially ordered complete ‎generalized metric spaces‎. ‎Some relationships between weak‎ ‎$F$-contractions and $Fi$-contractions are highlighted‎. ‎We also ‎give some application...

G. Soleimani Rad H. Rahimi,

Recently, Cho et al. [Y. J. Cho, R. Saadati, S. H. Wang, Common xed point theorems on generalized distance in ordered cone metric spaces, Comput. Math. Appl. 61 (2011) 1254-1260] dened the concept of the c-distance in a cone metric space and proved some xed point theorems on c-distance. In this paper, we prove some new xed point and common xed point theorems by using the distance in ordered con...
