In recent years, the need for high efficiency and low emission power generation systems has made much attention to the use of fuel cell technology. The solid oxide fuel cells due to their high operating temperature (800 ℃ -1000 ℃) are suitable for power generation systems.Two-component gas flow (H2 and H2O) in the porous media of solid oxide fuel cell’s anode have been modeled via lattice Boltz...

A highly sensitive and selective fluorescence ratiometric sensor membrane for 2,3,3'-trichlorobiphenyl has been achieved, via depositing polypyrrole nanotubes (PPyNTs, the fluorescence indicator) in nano-porous anodic aluminium oxide (NPAAO) template and subsequently immobilizing fluorescein isothiocyanate (as an internal reference) onto the inner walls of the PPyNTs embedded in the NPAAO.

A mussel-inspired new interfacial ionic rectification device is fabricated using porous anodic alumina nanochannels and graphene oxide via dopamine polymerization. In addition, the rectification mechanism is elucidated based on the principles of physics and thermodynamics via finite element simulation and the results show that the interface distance and surface charge play a vital role in ion t...

A (super)critical transfer: The consecutive hydrogenolysis and hydrogenation of the lignin model compound dihydrobenzofuran was studied in supercritical methanolic solutions using porous metal oxide catalysts. These catalysts promote H(2) production from methanol followed by hydrogenolysis of the ether linkages and reduction of the aromatic rings, leading principally to a mixture of cyclohexanols.

A novel 3D hierarchical nanocomposite of vertically aligned porous FeP nano-wires on reduced graphene oxide is prepared as a demonstration of constructing an efficient hydrogen evolution catalyst. Extension of this nanostructuring strategy to other functional nanocomposites by combining different dimensional nanomaterials is attractive.

Hierarchical porous iron oxide films with different morphologies have for the first time been fabricated through hydrothermal reactions between an iron substrate and iodine powder in water or ethanol, which can be explained by a mechanism analogous to the Kirkendall effect.

Noble metal nanoparticles are directly and homogeneously grown onto graphene-oxide (GO) sheets in oleylamine. After the oleylamine is removed, the GO sheets are exfoliated by the nanoparticle pillars to further form hierarchical GO nanostructures with molecule accessible nanopores. With specific sensing-groups modified, the porous-layered nanostructure can be constructed onto resonant microcant...

Porous manganese oxide spheres form readily from a reaction between KMnO4 and n-butanol in aqueous butyric acid under ambient conditions. Spheres have uniform size, tuneable diameters and high surface areas. The material is an active catalyst for the oxidation of isopropanol to acetone.

The adsorption of Fe2+ by the manganese oxide coated zeolite (MOCZ) and iron oxide coated zeolite (FOCZ) was studied. Surface properties of adsorbents have been investigated for monitoring their changes and morphology for both of the MOCZ and FOCZ. Main variables namely; contact time, pH, initial concentration of Fe2+, size and dosage of adsorbent have been optimized, and the results contrasted...
