The behavior of polymeric surfactant polyvinyl acetate (PVAC)-b-poly(1,1,2,2-tetrahydroperfluorooctyl acrylate) (PTAN) in supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) was investigated using static and dynamic light scattering. We observed three regions on the phase diagram of the copolymer in supercritical CO2: (i) two-phase region at low CO2 density; (ii) solutions of spherical micelles at intermediate ...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to enhance the bioavailability of fenofibrate, a poorly water-soluble drug, using a melt-adsorption method with supercritical CO(2). METHODS Fenofibrate was loaded onto Neusilin(®) UFL2 at different weight ratios of fenofibrate to Neusilin UFL2 by melt-adsorption using supercritical CO(2). For comparison, fenofibrate-loaded Neusilin UFL2 was prepared by so...

Cu films were deposited onto planar and etched silicon substrates by the hydrogen-assisted reduction of a series of copper(I)(1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-acetylacetonate)L compounds [Cu(I)(hfac)L] where L is (2butyne), (1,5-cyclooctadiene), (vinyltrimethylsilane) or (2-methyl-1-hexene-3-yne) in supercritical solvents using a cold wall, high pressure reactor. At substrate temperatures of 225 8C a...

BACKGROUND Waste animal fat is a promising feedstock to replace vegetable oil that widely used in commercial biodiesel process, however the high content of free fatty acid in waste fat makes it unfeasible to be processed with commercial base-catalytic process. Enzymatic process is preferable to convert waste fat into biodiesel since enzyme can catalyze both esterification of free fatty acid and...

A mathematical model is described and applied for adsorption process of ethyl acetate from supercritical CO2 stream on activated carbon particles. This model has the ability of illustrating variation of effluent concentration towards different parameters such as flow rate, temperature and pressure. In this research, a vast area of operational conditions is experienced. Mass transfer resistance ...

We prove global existence of smooth solutions for a slightly supercritical dyadic model. We consider a generalized version of the dyadic model introduced by Katz-Pavlovic [10] and add a viscosity term with critical exponent and a supercritical correction. This model catches for the dyadic a conjecture that for Navier-Stokes equations was formulated by Tao [13].

We establish global regularity for the logarithmically energy-supercritical wave equation 2u = u log(2 + u) in three spatial dimensions for spherically symmetric initial data, by modifying an argument of Ginibre, Soffer and Velo [3] for the energy-critical equation. This example demonstrates that critical regularity arguments can penetrate very slightly into the supercritical regime.

a r t i c l e i n f o A brief overview of the literature relating to electrochemical studies and processes undertaken in supercritical fluids is presented. This review mostly concerns carbon dioxide and hydrofluorocarbons, given the accessibility of their supercritical states, and does not consider the emerging body of research in expanded phase electrochemistry.

The ring hydrogenation of benzoic acid to cyclohexanecarboxylic acid over charcoal-supported transition metal catalysts in supercritical CO2 medium has been studied in the present work. The cyclohexanecarboxylic acid can be produced efficiently in supercritical CO2 at the low reaction temperature of 323 K. The presence of CO2 increases the reaction rate and several parameters have been discussed.

The synthesis of a family of O-silylcarbamates from the corresponding silylamines has been achieved simply by heating the silylamine in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), and these O-silylcarbamates have been shown to be effective precursors for the synthesis of a range of symmetrical and unsymmetrical ureas.
