β-Lithiooxyphosphonium ylides, made in situ from an aldehyde and methylenetriphenylphosphorane, react with a second aldehyde to form E-allylic alcohols. α-Branching and α,β-unsaturation in the second aldehyde, together with the lack of further substitution on the phosphorane carbon play important roles in selectivity. A range of these aldehydes, in addition to aromatic aldehydes as the second a...
In the title compound, C(8)H(5)F(3)O(2), a halogenated derivative of benzoic acid, the carboxyl group is tilted by 16.8 (3)° with respect to the plane of the aromatic ring. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding gives rise to carb-oxy-lic acid dimers, which are further connected into double chains along [1,1/4,1] by C-H⋯O contacts. C-H⋯F and C-F⋯π contacts are also observed.
In the title compound, C(19)H(15)O(2)P, the dihedral angles between the benzoic acid ring and the phenyl rings are 75.64 (7) and 80.88 (7)°; the dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 81.35 (7)°. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate R(2) (2)(8) loops between the head-to-head carb-oxy-lic acid groups.
The stepwise metabolism of gibberellin A12-aldehyde (GA12-aldehyde) to GA20 is demonstrated from seedling shoots of maize (Zea mays L.). The labeled substrates [13C,3H]GA12-aldehyde, [13C,3H]GA12, [14C4]GA53, [14C4/2H2]GA44, and [14C4/2H2]GA19 were fed individually to dwarf-5 vegetative shoots. Both [13C,3H]GA12-aldehyde and [13C,3H]GA12 were also added individually to normal shoots. The labele...
The Nickel(II) and Copper(II) complexes of Uramido Benzoic acid were prepared and characterized by magnetic studies, molar conductance studies, thermal analysis and spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, UV and ESR). The IR spectral studies revealed that the Uramido Benzoic acid behaves as a tridentate ligand. Electronic spectral studies and magnetic studies suggest that the complexes are in octahedra...
an ion chromatography (ic) method for simultaneous determination of benzoic, salicylic and sorbic acids was developed. in this method the samples were purified by solid-phase extraction. the analytes were then eluted with methanol from c18 cartridge. the separation was performed on ion-exclusion column by an isocratic elution with 0.25 mmol /l sulfuric acid solution containing 20% (v/v) acetone...
Aldehydes are a class of chemicals with many industrial uses. Several aldehydes are responsible for flavors and fragrances present in plants, but aldehydes are not known to accumulate in most natural microorganisms. In many cases, microbial production of aldehydes presents an attractive alternative to extraction from plants or chemical synthesis. During the past 2 decades, a variety of aldehyde...
Aldehydes are highly reactive molecules formed during the biotransformation of numerous endogenous and exogenous compounds, including biogenic amines. 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetaldehyde is the aldehyde metabolite of dopamine, and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycolaldehyde is the aldehyde metabolite of both norepinephrine and epinephrine. There is an increasing body of evidence suggesting that these compoun...
Oxidative decarbyxylation of p-hydroxybenzoic acids in plant cell suspension cultures is catalyzed by peroxidases. This reaction has been characterized in vivo and in vitro. Decarboxylation of substituted benzoic acids yields monomeric, dimeric and oligomeric benzoquinones. All peroxidases obtained from soybean (Glycine max) cell suspension cultures by gel electrophoresis are equally capable to...
