Recently, we experienced a rare case of Budd-Chiari Syndrome. The case was a 57-year-old female patient. Venous return had been severely disturbed by the membranous occlusion of the IVC and a giant floating thrombus. After catheter directed thrombolysis combined with stepwise percutaneous angioplasty, the IVC was recanalized sufficiently and the thrombus was completely resolved.

standard protocols should be established for treating eligible stroke patients with tissue plasminogen activator (tpa) (recommendation class i, level of evidence b). the iranian standard protocol of intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (ivttpa) is the best possible and easy to use method for performing intravenous thrombolysis in iran. this protocol overcomes p...

BACKGROUND The anticoagulant treatment of acute deep venous thrombosis (DVT) has been historically directed toward the prevention of recurrent venous thromboembolism. However, such treatment imperfectly protects against late manifestations of the postthrombotic syndrome. By restoring venous patency and preserving valvular function, early thrombus removal strategies can potentially decrease post...

INTRODUCTION Acute peripheral arterial occlusions can be treated with intra-arterial catheter-directed thrombolysis as an alternative to surgical thromboembolectomy. Although less invasive, this treatment is time-consuming and carries a significant risk of haemorrhagic complications. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound using microbubbles could accelerate dissolution of thrombi by thrombolytic medicati...

Background and purpose: Early treatment of thrombolysis can reduce mortality in patients with myocardial infarction, so, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the effect of pre-hospital thrombolysis and in-hospital thrombolysis on short-term mortality in patients with myocardial infarction. Materials and methods: Systematic search was conducted in electronic databases inclu...

BACKGROUND Recent international guidance recommends the use of catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) in selected patients with symptomatic iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The aim of this study was to estimate the potential increase in workload as a result of this recommendation. METHODS Using the radiology database, a review was performed of all DVTs diagnosed between August 2010 and F...

Central vein perforation as a rare complication of venous interventions is considered a nightmare if occurring in thoracic cage but behaves benignly in abdominal or pelvic region. This is not a rule, as we unfortunately encountered during the procedure of venous intervention in our patient. Although mechanical control of iatrogenic perforation or rupture is the first and most critical step duri...

Giant right atrial thrombus in association with a medical device is rare1,2 but when present poses the threat of massive pulmonary embolism. Surgical resection, catheter embolectomy, and thrombolysis are the principal options for management. We present the case of a 60-year-old man with bilateral pulmonary embolism and a 6-cm right atrial thrombus adherent to an implantable cardioverter-defibri...
