This work shows a fuzzy model of the indebtedness for the Spanish autonomous regions that is obtained using approximate reasoning and induction methods. So, the algorithm ADRI (M. Delgado, 2001; Jimenez, 1997) is used to induce a linguistic model composed by a set of fuzzy rules. The quality of this linguistic model will be checked and its interpretation will be shown.

With fuzzy linguistic rules complex handwriting patterns can be represented in a broad linguistic domain, thus facilitating a flexible and widely valid recognition scheme. Based on the multi-layered human visual recognition system a multilevel fuzzy rule based classification system is proposed and explained. The constraints which influence the structure of this system applied to handwritten sym...

It is easy for an expert to express his/her preferences using fuzzy linguistic term such as ‘good’, ‘very good’ in group decision making because of uncertainty existing. The linguistic 2-tuple representation model was selected to represent fuzzy linguistic term. To obtain the objective decision power in a linguistic 2-tuple judgment matrix given by an expert, the paper put forward a new approac...

The fuzzy logic theory proposed by Zadeh (1965) is based on intuitive reasoning and takes into account human subjectivity and imprecision. Unlike statistical data mining techniques such as cluster or regression analysis, fuzzy logic enables the use of nonnumerical values and introduces the notion of linguistic variables (Zadeh, 1975a, 1975b, 1975c). Using linguistic terms and variables hides Ab...

Ranking fuzzy numbers plays a very important role in linguistic decision making and other fuzzy application systems. In spite of many ranking methods, no one can rank fuzzy numbers with human intuition consistently in all cases. Shortcoming are found in some of the convenient methods for ranking triangular fuzzy numbers such as the coefficient of variation (CV index), distance between fuzzy set...

The management of the health-care wastes is one of the most important problems in Istanbul, a city with more than 12 million inhabitants, as it is in most of the developing countries. Negligence in appropriate treatment and final disposal of the healthcare wastes can lead to adverse impacts to public health and to the environment. This paper employs a fuzzy multi-criteria group decision making ...

One of the superior capabilities of fuzzy systems is that they can use the information expressed in a linguistic pattern. Though most fuzzy systems, have been formed to emulate human decision making behaviour, the linguistic information stated by an expert may not be precise or that it is difficult for the expert to articulate the accumulated knowledge to encompass all circumstances. Hence, it ...

The aim of this paper is to present the Temporal Fuzzy Models (TFMs). These models are used to represent the systems that change in time, i. e., dynamic systems. Temporal fuzzy rules of TFMs are ordered, so each rule represents a ”temporal zone”. An algorithm is presented to obtain the TFM. This algorithm needs as input a fuzzy model based in linguistic labels. An inference method is presented ...

Fuzzy logic has proved to be a powerful tool to represent imprecise and irregular patterns. Thus the representation of handwriting parameters is accomplished with fuzzy linguistic modeling. The development of a multi-layered rule based handwriting recognition system is described. The selection of the representative features, which describe the shapes and location of segments, is the core of the...

Ontology is the basis of sharing and reusing knowledge on the Semantic Web, and ontology-based semantic retrieval is a hotspot of current research. Fuzzy ontology is an extension of domain ontology for solving the uncertainty problems. To represent fuzzy knowledge more effectively, this paper presents a new series of fuzzy ontology models that consists of fuzzy domain ontology and fuzzy linguis...
