We propose a way of using boolean circuits to perform real valued computation in a way that naturally extends their boolean func-tionality. The functionality of multiple fan in threshold gates in this model is shown to mimic that of a hardware implementation of continuous Neural Networks. A Vapnik-Chervonenkis dimension and sample size analysis for the system is performed giving best known samp...

A microdevice assay is being developed to continuously measure specific antigen concentrations within a sample stream. This device will allow real-time measurement of systemic protein concentrations within blood plasma, at high sample rates not possible with existing bench-top assays. Magnetic actuation of antibody coated paramagnetic microbeads between sample and wash streams leads to highly c...

In this paper a new quantity for real tensors, the sign-real spectral radius, is defined and investigated. Various characterizations, bounds and some properties are derived. In certain aspects our quantity shows similar behavior to the spectral radius of a nonnegative tensor. In fact, we generalize the Perron Frobenius theorem for nonnegative tensors to the class of real tensors.

The drill makes use of four rods to obtain the full length drill string which allows to reach a penetration depth of 2 meters. The first rod is the real drill tool with sample collection capability; the other 3 rods are extension rods. The real drill tool is installed at the mandrel during launch, the other three rods are stored in a dedicated rod magazine together with a back up drill tool. Al...

The use MOF-508a as sensing component for the precise discerning of bisphenol A via the electrochemical technique and its synthesis by a simple method were reported in the present study. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) were applied to describe the MOF-508a’s composition and structure. In addition, MOF-508a was exploited so that the glassy carbon electrode could be...

in the use of peer group data to assess individual, typical or best practice performance, the effective detection of outliers is critical for achieving useful results. in these ‘‘deterministic’’ frontier models, statistical theory is now mostly available. this paper deals with the statistical pared sample method and its capability of detecting outliers in data envelopment analysis. in the prese...

This paper experiments an artificial neural networks model with Bayesian approach on a small real estate sample. The output distribution has been calculated operating a numerical integration on the weights space with the Markov Chain Hybrid Monte Carlo Method (MCHMCM). On the same real estate sample, MCHMCM has been compared with a neural networks model (NNs), traditional multiple regression an...

We present a real-time rendering algorithm for inhomogeneous, single scattering media, where all-frequency shading effects such as glows, light shafts, and volumetric shadows can all be captured. The algorithm first computes source radiance at a small number of sample points in the medium, then interpolates these values at other points in the volume using a gradient-based scheme that is efficie...

Successful detection of the avian influenza (AI) virus, viral antigen, nucleic acid, or antibody is dependent upon the collection of the appropriate sample type, the quality of the sample, and the proper storage and handling of the sample. The diagnostic tests to be performed should be considered prior to sample collection. Sera are acceptable samples for ELISA or agar gel precipitin tests, but...
