Melanins are predominantly indolic polymers which are extensively synthesized in animals, plants and microorganisms. It has wide applications in cosmetics, agriculture and medicine. In the present study, optimization of process parameters influencing melanin production was attempted using the response surface methodology (RSM) from Brevundimonas sp. SGJ. A Plackett-Burman design was used for sc...

L-DOPA (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-L-alanine) is an extensively used drug for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. In the present study, optimization of nutritional parameters influencing L-DOPA production was attempted using the response surface methodology (RSM) from Brevundimonas sp. SGJ. A Plackett-Burman design was used for screening of critical components, while further optimization was carried...

Brevundimonas is a genus of freshwater bacteria belonging to the family Caulobacteraceae. The present study describes two novel species (LVF1T and LVF2T). Both were genomically, morphologically, physiologically characterized. Average nucleotide identity analysis revealed both are unique among known strains. In silico additional ProphageSeq analyses resulted in prophages LVF1T genome remnant pro...

Natural transformation is assumed to be the most likely mechanism by which DNA from transgenic plants could be horizontally transferred to bacteria. In order to determine the occurrence of naturally transformable bacteria amongst bulk and rhizosphere soil bacteria, different transformation strategies were employed using either plasmid DNA (IncQ plasmids pSM1890 and pSM1885, conferring GFP, Sm(r...

The fate of doxycycline (DC), a second generation tetracycline antibiotic, in the environment has drawn increasing attention recent years due to its wide usage. Little is known about biodegradability DC environment. objective this study was characterize biotransformation by pure bacterial strains with respect reaction kinetics under different environmental conditions and products. Two strains, ...

In recent years, the exploitation of bacteria for production carotenoids has become great interest as a sustainable alternative to chemical synthesis, which is expensive and technically challenging. This study contributes repertoire carotenogenic by reporting isolation an orange-pigmented bacterium from gut adult olive flies. The novel isolate, designated M3d10, shared 100% identity with Brevun...
