We report the draft genome of Brevundimonas diminuta strain XGC1, isolated from a tuberculosis-infected patient in Gujarat, India. This study also reveals that the B. diminuta XGC1 strain has acquired mutation to confer resistance to quinolone drugs.
In the literature, only three Brevundimonas diminuta environmental isolates carrying metallo-β-lactamase genes were recently published. However, so far, no B. diminuta clinical isolates carrying these carbapenem resistance genes have been described. Here we report the first VIM-2 metallo-β-lactamase-producing B. diminuta clinical isolate obtained from an immunocompromised patient.
In the original article on Brevundimonas vesicularis bacteremia, Zhang et al described the clinical characteristics and microbiological features of 22 patients with primary B. vesicularis bacteremia who were being treated in a medical center in southern Taiwan during 2006e2009. In this study, microbiological identification was performed with an API 20 NE system (bioMérieux, Marcy L’etoile, Fran...
The complete genome sequence of Brevundimonas diminuta represented a chromosome (∼4.15 Mb) and two plasmids (pCMS1 and pCMS2) with sizes of 65,908 and 30,654 bp, respectively. The sequence of the genome showed no significant similarity with the known bacterial genome sequences, instead showed weak similarity with the members of different genera of family, Sphingomonadaceae. Contradicting existi...
A Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacterial strain, designated LMG 2337(T), was isolated from the blood of a patient with endocarditis and characterized. The strain was affiliated with the alphaproteobacterial genus Brevundimonas, with Brevundimonas diminuta LMG 2089(T) (98.3 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Brevundimonas terrae KSL-145(T) (97.5 %) as its closest relatives....
A total of 85 chromate-resistant bacteria were isolated from the rhizosphere of water hyacinth grown in Mariout Lake, Egypt, as well as the sediment and water of this habitat. Only 4 (11%), 2 (8%), and 2 (8%) of isolates from each of the environments, respectively, were able to tolerate 200 mg Cr (VI) L(-1). When these eight isolates were tested for their ability to tolerate other metals or to ...
