Ataxia-telangiectasia is a genetic disorder associated with high incidence of B-cell lymphoma. Using an ataxiatelangiectasia mouse model, we compared lymphoma incidence in several isogenic mouse colonies harboring different bacterial communities, finding that intestinal microbiota are a major contributor to disease penetrance and latency, lifespan, molecular oxidative stress, and systemic leuko...
In this study a 31 y/o woman who was housewife, came from Mazandaran and lived in Behshahr is presented. Patient's complaints were diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain and weight loss. Abdominal radiography showed loop dilatation. In primary Para clinic assessments she had Alb: 2.8, Ca: 6.4, P: 2.3 and PTH: 201. Considering malabsorption in early evaluation, upper endoscopy was done. Intestinal f...
Intestinal T-cell and natural killer (NK)-cell lymphomas are clinically aggressive and can be challenging to diagnose in small endoscopic biopsies. We describe 8 patients in whom atypical NK-cell lymphoproliferative lesions mimicked NK- or T-cell lymphoma. The patients (2 men; 6 women; ages 27-68 years) presented with vague gastrointestinal symptoms with lesions involving stomach, duodenum, sma...
The majority of gastrointestinal lymphomas arise in the stomach, whereas lymphomas occurring in the intestine are relatively rare and a limited fraction of them show the T-cell phenotype with clinical manifestations similar to de novo celiac disease. Enteropathy-type T-cell lymphoma is extremely rare in Japan, presumably owing to the very low incidence of celiac disease among the Japanese popul...
INTRODUCTION Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a subtype of non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma, accounting for 6% of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The typical appearance of intestinal MCL is multiple lymphomatous polyposis, whereas presentation as protruding lesions is uncommon. We herein report the case of a 64-year-old male patient who was admitted to our hospital with epigastric pains. On endoscopy, submuc...
T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) represent approximately 10-15% of all lymphomas diagnosed in Western countries. Significant progress has been made over the last 2 decades in defining non-random chromosomal abnormalities. Cytogenetic and molecular analyses have enhanced diagnostic capabilities as well as improved classification and prognostication for T-cell NHL. Gamma-delta T-cell receptor...
EBV positive extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma presenting as intestinal lymphoma- A diagnostic challenge
We report a rare case of Churg-Strauss syndrome in a 37-year-old man, presented as ileus intestinal and associated with Tlymphoblastic lymphoma, that was located in the retroperitoneal space and infiltrated the suprarenal gland. The T lymphoblasts, with the immunohistochemical method, disclosed positivity for CD3 and CD8, while they were negative for Pan B and CD20.
Enteropathy-associated T cell lymphoma (EATCL) is an intestinal neoplasm of intra-epithelial T lymphocytes associated with coeliac disease. Although the incidence is rare, EATCL runs an aggressive disease course and produces multi-focal ulcerative lesions most commonly in the proximal small bowel. As such, patients may present with intestinal perforation, obstruction or haemorrhage. Management ...
Coeliac disease is associated with an increased risk of malignancy, not only of intestinal lymphoma but also of small intestinal adenocarcinoma which is 82 times more common in patients with celiac disease than in the normal population. We report three additional cases of a small bowel adenocarcinoma in the setting of coeliac disease in order to underline the epidemiological features, clinicopa...
