OBJECTIVES This study aimed to examine the education and training background of Chinese community health centres (CHCs) staff, continuous medical education (CME) and factors affecting participation in CME. DESIGN Cross-sectional survey. SETTING Community health centres (CHCs). PARTICIPANTS All doctors and nurses working in selected CHCs (excluding those solely practising traditional Chine...
In this paper we present the first automatically constructed LASCO CME catalog, a result of the application of the Computer Aided CME Tracking software (CACTus) on the LASCO archive during the interval September 1997-January 2007. We have studied the CME characteristics and have compared them with similar results obtained by manual detection (CDAW CME catalog). On average CACTus detects less th...
Intrinsic noise, the stochastic cell-to-cell fluctuations in mRNAs and proteins, have been observed and proved to play important roles in cellular systems. Due to the recent development in single-cell-level measurement technology, the studies on intrinsic noise are becoming increasingly popular among scholars. The chemical master equation (CME) has been used to model the evolutions of complex c...
The effect of industry support on participants' perceptions of bias in continuing medical education.
PURPOSE To obtain prospective evidence of whether industry support of continuing medical education (CME) affects perceptions of commercial bias in CME activities. METHOD The authors analyzed information from the CME activity database (346 CME activities of numerous types; 95,429 participants in 2007) of a large, multispecialty academic medical center to determine whether a relationship existe...

We present a detailed simulation of the evolution of a moderately slow coronal mass ejection (CME; 800 km s 1 at 5 R , where R is solar radii) in the lower solar corona (2Y5 R ). The configuration of the Sun’s magnetic field is based on the MDI data for the solar surface during Carrington rotation 1922. The pre-CME background solar wind is generated using the Wang-Sheeley-Arge (WSA) model. To i...
OBJECTIVE To assess the perceived continuing medical education (CME) needs of a cohort of Canadian family physicians. METHODS We distributed a questionnaire survey to Canadian family physicians who became Certificant members of the College of Family Physicians in 2001 and practised outside the province of Quebec. Main outcome measures were self-reported CME needs, professional development nee...
We report the possible mechanism of development of cystoid macular edema (CME) in retinitis pigmentosa (RP) in the case of a 68-year-old woman with RP and CME in the right eye and resolving CME in the left eye. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography showed CME and posterior vitreoschisis in the nasal quadrant of the fundus without a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). This vitreous patho...
We analyze a coronal mass ejection (CME) which resulted from an intense flare in active region AR486 on November 4, 2003. The CME propagation and speed are studied with interplanetary scintillation images, near-Earth space mission data, and Ulysses measurements. Together, these diverse diagnostics suggest that the internal magnetic energy of the CME determines its interplanetary consequences.
