PURPOSE Numerical study of microwave imaging and microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging utilizes finite difference time domain (FDTD) analysis for simulation of microwave and acoustic interaction with biological tissues, which is time consuming due to complex grid-segmentation and numerous calculations, not straightforward due to no analytical solution and physical explanation, and incompatib...

This paper describes various methods of generation of microwave chaos signal spectrum origin from certain continuous dynamical systems – that may exhibit dynamics of signals that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. Many side lobes in chaos signal spectrum which makes the unambiguous detection difficult because of the spectrum of the chaotic signal is not very fat and smooth, with pulsat...

Remote measurements of Earth's atmospheric state using microwave and infrared wavelengths have been carried out for many years [1, 2]. Physical considerations involving the use of these spectral regions include the relatively high cloud-penetrating capability at microwave wavelengths and the relatively sharp weighting functions at infrared wavelengths, particularly in the shortwave region near ...

This study reevaluates the putative advantages of microwave-assisted tryptic digests compared to conventionally heated protocols performed at the same temperature. An initial investigation of enzyme stability in a temperature range of 37-80 °C demonstrated that trypsin activity declines sharply at temperatures above 60 °C, regardless if microwave dielectric heating or conventional heating is em...

A simple method is presented for the inclusion of melting layer microwave radiative properties into cloud model simulations. These can be used for sensitivity studies of passive and active microwave signatures of rainclouds as well as for the generation of retrieval databases for aircraft and satellite radarrradiometer applications. Tables of bulk cloud cell microwave radiative Ž parameters ext...

An evaluation was made of different digestion methods for the determination of arsenic and antimony in table salt samples prior to hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric analysis. Microwave acid digestion, classical wet digestion, dry ashing, and fusion were applied to the decomposition of salt samples and optimum conditions were investigated. Samples were decomposed by changing hea...

Measurements of the active properties of a Dayem micro-bridge at X-band frequencies is described. The bridge was mounted in a microwave cavity designed to match the bridge properly and the microwave output from the cavity was detected using a sensitive X-band spectrometer. Micsowave power was detected from the freely running Josephson oscillations with the bridge dc-biased to emit at the receiv...

The sensitivity of microwave emission to biomass and biophysical properties of crops and forests has been proved in several experimental and theoretical studies. Experimental investigations on microwave emission from crops carried out since early 1980s by using ground based and airborne sensors demonstrated that useful information on vegetation covered soils can be obtained by combining brightn...

A state-variable-based approach to the impulse response and convolution analysis of distributed microwave circuits is developed. The state-variable approach minimizes computation time and memory requirements. It allows the use of parameterized nonlinear device models, thus improving robustness. Soliton generation on a nonlinear transmission line is considered as an example.
