This work describes a valorization procedure for one of the most important wastes generated during aluminum recycling, namely, saline slag. was divided in two steps: a) recovery or its compounds various fractions, and b) use those fractions synthesis zeolites: analcime (NaAlSi2O6·H2O) pollucite (CsAlSi2O6·nH2O). Saline slag ground, sieved (1 mm), washed separated into different sizes, larger an...

current research on effect of increasing concentrations (0 (control), 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mm) of different salts including nacl and na2so4 on germination and initial growth phase of halostachys caspica were studied. the experimental design was completely randomized design with three replications. characters of percentage, speed and index of germination, seed healthy index, radicle, plumu...

OBJECTIVE To quantify the role of dietary Fe in total body Fe (TBI) accumulation among homozygotes for the HFE gene associated with haemochromatosis. DESIGN A Monte Carlo model was built to simulate Fe accumulation based on findings from human feeding experiments and national dietary surveys. A hypothetical cohort of 1000 homozygotes with starting age 25 years was used in 39-year simulations....

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the influence of high-pitch mode (HPM) in dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) on the accuracy of three-dimensional (3D) volumetry for solid pulmonary nodules. MATERIALS AND METHODS A lung phantom implanted with 45 solid pulmonary nodules (n = 15 for each of 4-mm, 6-mm, and 8-mm in diameter) was scanned twice, first in conventional pitch mode (CPM) and then in HPM usin...

We present a study of the cosmic infrared background, which is a measure of the dust-obscured activity in all galaxies in the Universe. We venture to isolate the galaxies responsible for the background at 1 mm; with spectroscopic and photometric redshifts we constrain the redshift distribution of these galaxies. We create a deep 1.16 mm map (σ ∼ 0.5 mJy) by combining the AzTEC 1.1 mm and MAMBO ...

Kinetics of (45)Ca efflux and insulin release were studied in collagenase-isolated rat islets during 2-h perifusions with calcium-depleted (0.05 mM) bicarbonate-phosphate buffer containing 2.2 mM glucose. Addition of glucose (16.7 mM) suppressed (45)Ca efflux by 30%. Removal of glucose caused an "off response" of insulin release. The perifusion of a normal concentration of Ca (2.3 mM) greatly s...

We report high-resolution observations made in interplanetary space of 83-284 MeV per nucleon galactic cosmic-ray iron isotopes and directly establish that 56Fe is the dominant cosmic-ray Fe isotope. We find the following percentage abundances for Fe at the cosmic-ray source: 54Fe = 9(+8, -5)%, 55Fe:::; 7%, 56Fe = 91(+5, -11)%, 57Fe:::; 8%, and 58Fe:::; 6%. When compared to calculated nucleosyn...

Peach is a highly corrosive fruit with a short shelf life (less than 7 days at room temperature)susceptible to diseases, pathogens and physical damage. The storage or marketable life ofhorticultural crops can be extended by various treatments applied to them after and/or beforeharvesting. Fruits are usually treated with a range of materials [(e.g. salicylic acid (SA)] to...

The chemical reduction of U(VI) by Fe(II) is a potentially important pathway for immobilization of uranium in subsurface environments. Although the presence of surfaces has been shown to catalyze the reaction between Fe(II) and U(VI) aqueous species, the mechanism(s) responsible for the enhanced reactivity remain ambiguous. To gain further insight into the U–Fe redox process at a complexing, no...

Iron (Fe) chlorosis is an important nutritional problem in quince trees. But, quince rootstocks differ in their tolerance to Fe deficiency in calcareous soils. Tolerance to Fe deficiency of seedling rootstocks of quince, pear and crataegus and clonal rootstock of quince A was evaluated by exposure to two levels of Fe (3 and 50 µM) in the presence or absence of 10 mM bicarbonate in soilless cult...
