The combination of functional and anatomical imaging technologies such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) has shown its value in the preclinical and clinical fields. In PET/CT hybrid acquisition systems, CT-derived attenuation maps enable a more accurate PET reconstruction. However, CT provides only very limited soft-tissue contrast and exposes the patient to an ...

Abstract Cancer is one of the leading causes morbidity and mortality. Imaging studies are central to initial staging follow-up management cancers. In past, oncologists have largely relied on anatomical imaging for staging, restaging, therapy monitoring. The introduction positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) its availability has transformed practice cancer imaging. PET-CT an ...

Objective. This study characterized the electroencephalographic correlation (rEEG) between prefrontal and parietal cortices in young men while solving logical-mathematical problems after 18 sessions of cognitive training. Method. Two training groups were formed: one trained with gradually increased complexity (CT), other no increase (ST). Results. CT had a greater number correct responses post-...

Introduction: Lung cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Nowadays PET/CT plays an essential role in radiotherapy planning specially for lung tumors as it provides anatomical and functional information simultaneously that is effective in accurate tumor delineation. The optimal segmentation method has not been introduced yet, however several ...

A 44 year old hypertensive man presented with a pure motor hemiparesis, and CT scan showed a putaminal hemorrhage. The clinical course was characterized by rapid resolution of the deficits. This case illustrates a variety of putaminal hemorrhage of good functional and vital prognosis, and stresses the value of CT scanning as a tool for diagnosis and prognosis.

PURPOSE The aim of the study was to determine whether a novel computed tomography (CT) postprocessing software technique (CALIPER) is superior to visual CT scoring as judged by functional correlations in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 283 consecutive patients with IPF had CT parenchymal patterns evaluated quantitatively with CALIPER and by visual scoring...

PURPOSE Our purpose was to determine the clinical feasibility of quantitative three-dimensional functional CT in patients with hyperacute stroke. METHODS Twenty-two patients who underwent clinically indicated CT angiography were studied: nine patients had no stroke, eight had mature stroke, and five had hyperacute stroke (less than 3 hours since ictus). Maps were obtained of perfused cerebral...

UNLABELLED This work was performed to evaluate the performance of (18)F-fluorodihydroxyphenylalanine ((18)F-FDOPA) PET/CT in detecting primary neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) occult on morphologic and functional imaging, in relation to tumor origin and differentiation. METHODS A retrospective study of NET patients who were investigated with (18)F-FDOPA PET/CT imaging in 2 academic endocrine tumo...

PURPOSE In this study, we aimed to compare the tumor sizes determined by maximum morphological computed tomography (CT) and functional positron emission tomography (PET) with the histopathological size to determine which method provides the best correlation with the histopathological size in lung carcinoma patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty lung carcinoma patients (39 males, one female) di...

A rare syndrome, Dyke-Davidoff-Masson Syndrome (DDMS), with a diagnostic conundrum, and the way it was solved is presented. A 13-year-old boy presented with recurrent seizures for the past 10 years. He had been treated with anticonvulsant medication which was satisfactory at first but later the seizures recurred. Recently, the frequency of the seizures increased with preictal dizziness and post...
