Software testing is costly, labor intensive, and time consuming. Modern testing requires faults to be discovered at the earliest possible stages to decrease the cost of fixing errors in software development process. Thus, high level models such as Simulink models have become the
Comparative Evaluation of a Maximization and Minimization Approach for Test Data Generation with Genetic Algorithm and Binary Particle Swarm Optimization
In search based test data generation, the problem of test data generation is reduced to that of function minimization or maximization.Traditionally, for branch testing, the problem of test data generation has been formulated as a minimization problem. In this paper we define an a
Search-based software test data generation: a survey
The use of metaheuristic search techniques for the automatic generation of test data has been a burgeoning interest for many researchers in recent years. Previous attempts to automate the test generation process have been limited, having been constrained by the size and complexit
MT2Way Interaction Algorithm for Pairwise Test Data Generation
To reduce the number of test cases by utilized the minimum possible amount of time throughout the testing process of software and hardware is highly desirable. For ensuring the stability of the technique the combination of a complete set of available inputs is recommended to be e
Performance Analysis of Test Data Generation for Path Coverage Based Testing Using Three Meta- Heuristic Algorithms
This paper discusses an approach to generate test data for path coverage based testing using Genetic Algorithms, Differential Evolution and Artificial Bee Colony optimization algorithms. Control flow graph and cyclomatic complexity of the example program has been used to find out
Automatic Unit Test Data Generation Using Mixed-Integer Linear Programming and Execution Trees
This paper presents an approach to automatic unit test data generation for branch coverage using mixed-integer linear programming, execution trees, and symbolic execution. This approach can be useful to both general testing and regression testing after software maintenance and re
Extraction of ABNF Rules from RFCs to Enable Automated Test Data Generation
The complexity of IT systems and the criticality of robust IT systems is constantly increasing. Testing a system requires consideration of different protocols and interfaces, which makes testing hard and expensive. Test automation is required to improve the quality of systems wit
Automated Evolutionary Test Data Generation with Domain Reduction for Aspect-Oriented Programs
Aspect-Oriented Programming is an emerging technique that helps improve separation of concerns in software systems. It has received a great deal of recent interest. However, algorithms and empirical results for testing of aspect-oriented programs are lagging some way behind this
Automatic, evolutionary test data generation for dynamic software testing
This paper proposes a dynamic test data generation framework based on genetic algorithms. The framework houses a Program Analyser and a Test Case Generator, which intercommunicate to automatically generate test cases. The Program Analyser extracts statements and variables, isolat
Search-based software test data generation for string data using program-specific search operators
This paper presents a novel approach to automatic software test data generation, where the test data is intended to cover program branches which depend on string predicates such as string equality, string ordering and regular expression matching. A search-based approach is assume
