A unital C∗–algebra A is said to have the (APD)–property if every nonzero element in A has the approximate polar decomposition. Let J be a closed ideal of A. Suppose that J̃ and A/J have (APD). In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition that makes A have (APD). Furthermore, we show that if RR(J ) = 0 and tsr(A/J ) = 1 or A/J is a simple purely infinite C∗–algebra, then A has (APD).

A proof is given that the polar decomposition procedure for unitarity restoration works for products of invertible nonunitary operators. A brief discussion follows that the unitarity restoration procedure, applied to propagators in spacetimes containing closed timelike curves, is analogous to the original introduction by Feynman of ghosts to restore unitarity in non-abelian gauge theories. (The...

An exact two-dimensional rotation-strain model describing the motion of Hookean incompressible viscoelastic materials is constructed by the polar decomposition of the deformation tensor. The global existence of classical solutions is proved under the smallness assumptions only on the size of initial strain tensor. The proof of global existence utilizes the weak dissipative mechanism of motion, ...

In this research paper, we present a novel frame work for handling $m$-polar information by combining the theory of $m-$polar fuzzy  sets with graphs. We introduce certain types of edge regular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs and edge irregular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs. We describe some useful properties of edge regular, strongly edge irregular and strongly edge totally irregular $m-$polar fuzzy graphs. W...

We show that for general deformations of SU(2) algebra, the dynamics in terms of ladder operators is preserved. This is done for a system of precessing magnetic dipole in magnetic field, using the unitary phase operator which arises in the polar decomposition of SU(2) operators. It is pointed out that there is a single phase operator dynamics underlying the dynamics of usual and deformed ladder...

Orientation states of two coupled polar molecules controlled by laser pulses are studied theoretically. By varying the period of a series of periodically applied laser pulse, transition from regular to chaotic behavior may occur. Schmidt decomposition is used to measure the degree of entanglement. It is found that the entanglement can be enhanced by increasing the strength of laser pulse. PACS:...

An alternative version of the theory of multiplicative unitaries is presented. Instead of the original regularity condition of Baaj and Skandalis we formulate another condition selecting manageable multiplicative unitaries. The manageability is the property of multiplicative unitaries coming from the quantum group theory. For manageable multiplicative unitaries we reproduce all the essential re...

Normality of bounded and unbounded adjointable operators is discussed. If T is an adjointable operator on a Hilbert C*-module which has polar decomposition, then T is normal if and only if there exists a unitary operator U which commutes with T and T ∗ such that T = U T ∗. Kaplansky’s theorem for normality of the product of bounded operators is also reformulated in the framework of Hilbert C*-m...

Facial features detection is of primary importance to face authentication and recognition. In this paper, we present an attention{driven approach to eyes and mouth detection inspired by the human saccadic system. The algorithm is centred around a log{polar retinotopic grid that is used to sample the Gabor decomposition of the image. Detection is achieved by displacing the grid according to a sa...
