In this paper, a new definition of fuzzy bounded sets and totallyfuzzy bounded sets is introduced and properties of such sets are studied. Thena relation between totally fuzzy bounded sets and N-compactness is discussed. Finally, a geometric characterization for fuzzy totally bounded sets in I- topologicalvector spaces is derived.

Discrete-time low-gain control strategies are presented for tracking of constant reference signals for "nite-dimensional, discrete-time, power-stable, single-input, single-output, linear systems subject to a globally Lipschitz, non-decreasing input nonlinearity and a locally Lipschitz, non-decreasing, a$nely sectorbounded output nonlinearity (the conditions on the output nonlinearities may be r...

This paper involves a novel adaptive control approach of flexible wing system with hysteresis nonlinearity. The usual design strategies based on the ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are inapplicable due to described in partial (PDEs), and algorithm becomes highly intricate. Firstly, inverse dynamic model is introduced compensate for Considering unknown external disturbances, an technique ...

The purpose of this work is to design an exact fuzzy observer for a bioprocess switching between two different metabolic states. A continuous baker’s yeast culture is divided in two sub-models: a respiro-fermentative with ethanol production and a respirative with ethanol consumption. An exact fuzzy observer model using sector nonlinearity was built for both nonlinear models; the observer gains ...

A systematic approach to joint state and time-varying parameter estimation for nonlinear systems is proposed in this paper. Applying the sector nonlinearity transformation to both the system nonlinearities and the time-varying parameters, the original system is equivalently rewritten as a Takagi-Sugeno system with unmeasurable premise variables. A joint state and parameter observer whose parame...

In this paper, we consider the problem of quantized quadratic performance control for a class of stochastic systems which are subject to multiplicative noises in the measurement. A dynamic output feedback controller is designed to guarantee a given level of performance. By using the sector bound approach to characterize the quantization error, the existence of a solution for the quantized quadr...

A piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function is developed for the analysis of the global and regional performances for systems with saturation/deadzone in a general feedback configuration with an algebraic loop. This piecewise quadratic Lyapunov function effectively incorporates the structure of the saturation/deadzone nonlinearity. Several sector-like conditions are derived to describe the complex ...

Globally convergent observers are designed for a class of systems with monotonic nonlinearities. The approach is to represent the observer error system as the feedback interconnection of a linear system and a time-varying multivariable sector nonlinearity. Using LMI software, observer gain matrices are computed to satisfy the circle criterion and, hence, to drive the observer error to zero. In ...

Supergravity models are constructed in which the effective low energy theory contains only “super-soft” explicit supersymmetry breaking: masses of the scalars and pseudoscalars within a multiplet are split in opposite directions. With this form of supersymmetry breaking the radiative corrections of the matter sector to the vacuum energy are bounded by O(M Susy) to all orders in perturbation the...

This paper examines whether it makes sense to consider Sutton’s “bounds” approach as a candidate theory for explaining the recent evolution of market structure in the biotechnology sector, and to speculate whether market structure will change if the industry begins to introduce second-generation GM products that are of more direct benefit to consumers. A key result is that the market structure ...
