An unprecedented encapsulation of an exogenous sodium ion by iron(III) tris(hydroxamate)s was observed upon crystallization of an iron(III) complex with isonicotinylhydroxamic acid. The sodium cation is bound by bridging coordination of the amide oxygen atoms from two mononuclear iron(III) fac-tris(hydroxamate)s.

Tris-N-arylthioureas derived in one step from 1,3,5-tris(aminomethyl)-2,4,6-triethylbenzene are remarkably effective anion carriers. We describe buffer for both immunoelectrophoresis and zone electrophoresis procedures in agarose gels, Tricine [N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methylglycine] and Tris [2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol] being the main components. This buffer eliminates the procurement cost and inventory control associated with formulation of barbital buffers. We compare it with other common buffer formulations.

Arylation of tris(2-benzylnitrile)amine with PhLi, followed by aqueous work-up, results in the formation of a tripodal tris(ketimine) scaffold, N(ArCNHPh)(3). N(ArCNHPh)(3) readily coordinates a number of Cu(I) salts, generating complexes that exhibit trigonal pyramidal geometries in the solid-state.

[structure: see text] A dyad of eosin and tris(2,2'-bipyridine)Ru(II) was prepared, and its photophysical properties were investigated. The photosensitization of eosin is greatly enhanced by introduction of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)Ru(II), which is verified via photooxygenation of anthracene derivatives. The electron-transfer mechanism of photosensitization is also discussed.

We have demonstrated directional photoinduced electron transfer in paraquat silicate thin films containing entrapped ruthenium(II)-tris(bathophenanthroline-disulfonate (RuBPS). The films were made by electrochemically-induced hydrolysis of a silane analogue of paraquat with ruthenium(II)-tris(bathophenanthroline-disulfonate as its ion pair.
