We sequenced and analyzed the complete genome of a fish nervous necrosis virus isolated from diseased sea perch (Lateolabrax japonicus) in Guangdong Province, China. The virus genome contains RNA1 (3,103 bp) and RNA2 (1,433 bp). Phylogenetic analysis shows that the virus belongs to the redspotted grouper nervous necrosis virus genotype of betanodavirus.
The Persian Gulf and its shores are important and strategic areas with a large variety of fish species. Betanodavirus infection is known to be a serious threat to susceptible fish and causing economic damages to the fisheries and fishing industry. Concerning to isolation and confirmation of VNN virus in the Mullet fish (Chelon aurata and C. saliens) in the Caspian Sea and its damages on Mullet ...
Viral nervous necrosis is a viral disease caused by betanodavirus causing deaths and epidemics in wild or farmed sea fish, especially juveniles. Betanodavirus has been detected European seabass gilthead seabream Turkey. However, there are no studies on the presence of wildlife along Turkish Mediterranean coast. This study aimed to investigate fish coast characterize isolates using molecular too...
It is known that the non-structural B2 protein of nervous necrosis virus (NNV) plays an important role in viral replication and can inhibit the RNA interference system of the host cell. Moreover, the mechanism of NNV B2 protein to inhibit RNAi is by sequestration and protection of double strand (ds) RNA. In the flock house virus (FHV), a model alphanodavirus, the structural and mutational analy...
Betanodavirus infection causes fatal disease of viral nervous necrosis in many cultured marine and freshwater fish worldwide and the virus-like particles (VLP) are effective vaccines against betanodavirus. But vaccine and viral vector designs of betanodavirus VLP based on their structures remain lacking. Here, the three-dimensional structure of orange-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (OGN...
Betanodavirus is the leading cause of viral mortality in fish worldwide and a major barrier to the spread of fisheries and aquaculture. Due to the increase in aquaculture in the Persian Gulf and the occurrence of some disease symptoms in farmed and wild fish in the region, screening of Betanodavirus-sensitive fish became important. Therefore, to prevent economic losses and reduce aquatic reserv...
Betanodaviruses are the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis and affect a broad range of fish species worldwide. Their bi-segmented genome is composed of the RNA1 and the RNA2 molecules encoding the viral polymerase and the coat protein, respectively. In southern Europe the presence of the RGNNV and the SJNNV genotypes, and the RGNNV/SJNNV and RGNNV/SJNNV reassortants has been documented....
Viral nervous necrosis (VNN) certainly represents the biggest challenge for the sustainability and the development of aquaculture. A large number of economically relevant fish species have proven to be susceptible to the disease. Conversely, gilthead sea bream has generally been considered resistant to VNN, although it has been possible to isolate the virus from apparently healthy sea bream and...
