Bone grafting is commonly used to treat large bone defects. Since autografts are limited and frequently associated with postoperative donor morbidity, allografts from bone banks are often used. However, vascularisation of the allograft is often impaired, resulting in inadequate bone healing and functional graft failure. In bone bank processing, tissue is stored at -80 degree Celsius and subsequ...
Femoral revision after cemented total hip replacement (THR) might include technical difficulties, following essential cement removal, which might lead to further loss of bone and consequently inadequate fixation of the subsequent revision stem. Femoral impaction allografting has been widely used in revision surgery for the acetabulum, and subsequently for the femur. In combination with a primar...
Somatic tissue engraftment was studied in BXSB mice treated with mesenchymal stem cell transplantation. Hosts were conditioned with nonlethal radiation prior to introducing donor cells from major histocompatibility complex-matched green fluorescent protein transgenic mice. Transplant protocols differed for route of injection, ie, intravenous (i.v.) versus intraperitoneal (i.p.), and source of m...
According to the study, there were unexpected tiny bone spicules being inspected in peri-implant soft tissue. These displaced autogenous bone chips were probably presented when preparing implant sites. The displaced bone spicules seemed not induced significant inflammatory reactions; on contrary, defects of specimens and dissolving bone spicules pictures were demonstrated.
In revision total hip replacement, bone loss can be managed by impacting porous bone chips. In order to guarantee sufficient mechanical strength, the bone chips have to be compacted. The aim of this study was to determine in an in vitro simulation whether the use of a pneumatic hammer leads to higher primary stability than manual impaction. Bone mass characteristics were measured by force and d...
Processed fishery products produce unwanted materials, namely waste. Waste is generated in the form of heads, tails, fins, bones, and offal. Bone one waste from fish processing industry which has highest calcium content body. Snakehead bone (Channa striata) potential food ingredients that widely used South Sumatra, especially city Palembang as a raw material for processed specialties. Diversifi...
STUDY DESIGN A nonhuman primate lumbar intertransverse process arthrodesis model was used to evaluate modifications to a plain collagen sponge to deliver recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2). OBJECTIVES To evaluate the feasibility of enhancing the delivery of rhBMP-2 with the established collagen sponge carrier by adding biphasic ceramic phosphate (BCP) granules (15% hydro...
The recent development of bone-on-chips (BOCs) holds the main advantage requiring a low quantity cells and material, compared to traditional In Vitro models. By incorporating hydrogels within BOCs, culture system moved three dimensional environment for which is more representative bone tissue matrix function. fundamental components hydrogel-based namely cellular sources, hydrogel chamber, have ...
