A rapid, simple and direct assay procedure based on first-derivative spectrophotometry, using a zero-crossing and peak-to-base measurement at 234 and 324 nm, respectively, has been developed for the specific determination of dextromethorphan HBr and bromhexine HCl in tablets. Calibration graphs were linear with the correlation coefficients of 0.9999 for both analytes. The limit of detections we...
Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop bromhexine hydrochloride 1 %w/v oral solution for veterinary use and to evaluate its stability. Methods: Solutions of Bromhexine hydrochloride (1%w/v) were prepared by dissolving bromhexine hydrochloride in benzyl alcohol at 50 °C then alcohol 96 % v/v; Tween 80 and purified water were added. The obtained solution was filled in amber glass bottles, a...
The objective of the investigation was to study the effect of bromhexine hydrochloride (BXH) content and agglomerate size on mechanical, compressional and drug release properties of agglomerates prepared by crystallo-co-agglomeration (CCA). Studies on optimized batches of agglomerates (BXT1 and BXT2) prepared by CCA have showed adequate sphericity and strength required for efficient tabletting....
Background: Biofilms are a collection of microorganisms that have the ability to stick to different levels. Due to the difficulty of treatment of bacterial biofilm infections and their lack of recognition by conventional diagnostic methods, this study aimed to provide a new method of identification and the effect of related drugs on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli biofilms. Material...
The title compound, C(14)H(21)Br(2)N(2) (+)·C(7)H(7)O(3)S(-), features a salt of protonated bromhexine, a pharmaceutical used in the treatment of respiratory disorders, and the p-toluenesulfonate anion. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
We describe a patient with a generalized bullous form of Fixed Drug Eruption (FDE) induced by bromhexine, a commonly used drug for respiratory symptoms. This is a rare association and generalized bullous FDE is also very rare. We emphasize the importance of patch tests in identifying the culprit drug.
A proposed simplification of radioaerosol inhalation lung cine-scintigraphy, namely 60 min measurement of radioactivity without repeating measurement at 24 hr later and calculation of alveolar deposition ratio (ALDR) by the regression formula of ALDR = -48.08 + 0.47 X FEV1.0% + 0.59 X LRR60, was found useful and applicable even to the evaluation of a drug on mucociliary clearance mechanisms. Th...
