In any insect invasion the presence or absence of suitable food and oviposition hosts in the invaded range is a key factor determining establishment success. The glassy-winged sharpshooter, Homalodisca vitripennis, is an important insect vector of the xylem-limited bacterial plant pathogen, Xylella fastidiosa, which causes disease in numerous host plants including food and feedstock crops, orna...
While depsidones, depsides or dibenzofuran-like compounds dominate the chemical composition of lichens, cyanolichen Nephroma laevigatum affords a diversity quinoid pigments represented by chlorinated anthraquinones derived from emodin and new bianthrones resulting homo- heterodimerization monomers. Bianthrones were pointed out dichloromethane extract MS/MS-based molecular networking, then isola...
It is essential to identify and determine the properties of native plants as natural genetic resources. The present study was performed to identify the Mindium (Michauxi) laevigata species using molecular and biochemical procedures such as genomic DNA extraction, sequencing, and antioxidant capacity and protein content determination at both vegetative and generative phases in various parts of t...
Based on our previous finding that certain cembranoid diterpenes possess selective toxicity against protozoan pathogens of tropical diseases such as Trypanosoma and Plasmodium, we have subjected a series of 34 cembranes isolated from soft corals living in the Vietnamese sea to an in vitro screening for anti-protozoal activity against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense (Tbr), T. cruzi (Tc), Leishman...
This paper describes the frequency and number of Sphyrion laevigatum in the skin of Genypterus blacodes, an important economic resource in Chile. The analysis of a spatial distribution model indicated that the parasites tended to cluster. Variations in the number of parasites per host could be described by a negative binomial distribution. The maximum number of parasites observed per host was two.
