A large volume of research in ubiquitous systems has been devoted to using data, that has been sensed from users’ smartphones, to infer their current high level context and activities. However, mining users’ diverse longitudinal behavioral patterns, which can enable exciting new context-aware applications, has not received much attention. In this paper, we focus on learning and identifying such...

The World Wide Web is essential to general public nowadays. From a data analysis viewpoint, it provides rich opportunities to gather observational data on a large-scale. This paper focuses on modeling the behavior of visitors to an academic website. Although the conventional probability models, which were used by other literature for fitting in a commercial web site, capture the power law behav...

a one dimensional dynamic model for a riser reactor in a fluidized bed catalytic cracking unit (fccu) for gasoil feed has been developed in two distinct conditions, one for industrial fccu and another for fccu using various frequencies of microwave energy spaced at the height of the riser reactor (fccu-mw). in addition, in order to increase the accuracy of component and bulk diffusion, instanta...

Annually, web search engine providers spend more and more money on documents ranking in search engines result pages (SERP). Click models provide advantageous information for ranking documents in SERPs through modeling interactions among users and search engines. Here, three modules are employed to create a hybrid click model; the first module is a PGM-based click model, the second module in a d...

Offering telematics services toward the end-users involves inter-domain real-time service provisioning, it therefore can also involves inter-domain real-time service accounting. Recognizing the increasing complexity of accounting services due to dynamic service usage behavior of the end-users, the paper addresses a way to first, decompose end-to-end service into accountable service components a...

purpose: scientific databases are the most important and useful sources where information is accessible via user interfaces. one of the approaches to eliminating the existing challenges in databases user interface is utilizing the sense-making theory (smt) approach. smt approach helps the users to understand problematic situations they have faced with and bridges the cognitive and information g...

Search engines are still the most important gates for information search in internet. In this regard, providing the best response in the shortest time possible to the user's request is still desired. Normally, search engines are designed for adults and few policies have been employed considering teen users. Teen users are more biased in clicking the results list than are adult users. This leads...

We present our approach to mining and modeling the behavior of database users. In particular, we propose graphic models to capture the database user’s dynamic behavior and focus on applying data mining techniques to the problem of mining and modeling database user behaviors from database trace logs. The experimental results show that our approach can discover and model user behaviors successfully.

are shaped, semantic modeling—what the building components are, and pattern modeling—how the building components are used by users. We conclude that a new extensible and pattern-embedded BIM system will be necessary to facilitate environment-behavior simulation.

We simulate a computer system by modeling its users as individuals who have separate needs for resources like processes and login time. During the simulations the users make decisions with probabilities which depends on the time of day and on the character of the user. This makes us able to reproduce the large scale behavior measured at real computer systems as well as predicting the behavior o...
