Background: Most of the amino acids are encoded by more than one codon, termed as synonymous codons. Synonymous codon usage is not random as it is unique to species. In each amino acid family, some synonymous codons are preferred and this is referred to as synonymous codon usage bias (SCUB). Trends associated with evolution of SCUB and factors influencing its diversification in plastomes of gen...

Capacity planning is a critical task in network management. It identifies how much capacity is needed to match future traffic demand. It directly affects customer satisfaction and revenues. In this work we present a network usage analysis tool called Dynamic Netvalue Analyzer (DNA), which helps alleviate a big problem that network engineers and marketing executives face– making optimal resource...

Finite automata with random bits written on a separate 2way readable tape can recognize languages not recognizable by probabilistic finite automata. This shows that repeated reading of random bits by finite automata can have big advantages over one-time reading of random bits.

Most existing routing strategies to improve transport efficiency have little attention what order should the packets be delivered, just simply used first-in-first-out queue discipline. However, it is far from optimal. In this paper we apply priority queuing discipline to random routing strategy on networks of mobile agents, in which the packets have high priority to transfer directly to their d...

This paper considers settings where populations of units may experience recurrent events, termed failures for convenience, and where the units are subject to varying levels of usage. We provide joint models for the recurrent events and usage processes, which facilitate analysis of their relationship as well as prediction of failures. Data on usage are often incomplete and we show how to impleme...

It has become clear that in most bacterial species there is considerable heterogeneity in codon usage among genes, and the codon usage of any gene is thought to reflect a balance between the forces of mutation, selection, and random genetic drift [4]. The strength and direction of these forces vary for different species, depending on their lifestyles [1]. In this study, we investigated the leve...

This paper investigates the use of Maximum Simulated Likelihood estimation for random effects dynamic probit models with autocorrelated errors. It presents a new Stata command, redpace, for this estimator and illustrates its usage. The paper also compares the use of pseudo-random numbers and Halton sequences of quasi-random numbers for the MSL estimation of these models.

We present a package for Mathematica computer algebra system which allows the exploitation of local files as sources of random data. We provide the description of the package and illustrate its usage by showing some examples. We also compare the provided functionality with alternative sources of randomness, namely a built-in pseudo-random generator and the package for accessing hardware true ra...

This paper presents the techniques employed for solutions of the Network Process simulation of Soil-Moisture Infiltration for Soil-Moisture Infiltration Information System. A new approach that uses both enlightened and Random Selection approach is presented to unravel the issues. The usage of random functions comprising of first high value attribute variable and their corresponding combinations...
