Background: Different immunological methods are used for the serodiagnosis of Fasciola hepatica infections, however, they have limited specificity and/or sensitivity. Objective: To improve the specificity of ELISA using a partially modified method for preparation of excretory-secretory (ES) antigens. Methods: Studied groups were as follows: 75 patients with parasitological evidence of fascioliasi...

Secretory meningioma have been described as a distinct variant of meningioma based on their histologic, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features of epithelial and secretory differentiation of meningothelial cells with accumulation of secretory material in the form of hyaline inclusion. Secretory meningioma is also a benign tumor having similar biological behaviour to that of typical men...

A new marker for human secretory epithelial cell types (Exo-1) has been defined by a mouse monoclonal antibody (Pa-G14). The antibody was raised against a human exocrine pancreatic tumor cell line (Capan1) and tested against 46 cultured human cell types and 228 freshly frozen human tissue sections. It reacted specifically with 28 normal and 55 secretory neoplastic epithelial tissues tested. Ele...

fasciolosis is a disease caused by liver fluck of the genus of fasciola. diagnosis of fasciolosis has been challenging for a long period due to low sensitivity of the coprological diagnostic method. in this study, an in-house dot-elisa method; using excretion–secretory (es ag) and crude (cr ag) antigens of fasciola was described for diagnosis of fasciolosis in cattle. for this purpose, the sera...

Immunofluorescence staining for carcinoembryonic antigen, secretory component, and epithelial IgA was evaluated semiquantitatively in routine formalin-fixed mucosal biopsy samples from five patients with ulcerative colitis who had undergone colectomy because of carcinomas. Selected areas were given fluorescence intensity scores without knowledge of whether dysplasia or reactive hyperplasia was ...

Monoclonal antibodies to insulin secretory granule membranes were obtained following immunization of mice with granule membranes purified from a rat transplantable insulinoma. The specificities of the antibodies were investigated by using binding assays with different insulinoma subcellular fractions, by indirect immunofluorescence studies with intact and permeabilized cells, and by immunoblott...

Two types of secretory pathways are present in mammalian cells: constitutive secretion and regulated secretion (1). In the constitutive secretory pathway, which is found in all types of cells, secretory products are packed in small vesicles. Most of the proteoglycans and glycoproteins of the extracellular matrix are secreted in this way. The regulated secretory pathway, found in the more differ...

The secretory immune response in humans infected with Giardia lamblia was studied by using saliva samples and an 8-kDa antigen capable of binding fatty acids. This antigen was not recognized by saliva samples from healthy individuals. The antigen may be useful in diagnostic studies of G. lamblia infection.
