We show that one single experiment can test simultaneously and independently both the nonclassicality of states and measurements by the violation or fulfillment of classical bounds on the statistics. Nonideal measurements affected by imperfections can be characterized by two bounds depending on whether we test the ideal measurement or the real one.
This article examines the determinants of health expenditures in Tunisia during the period 1961-2008, using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach by Pesaran et al. (2001). The results of the bounds test show that there is a stable long-run relationship between per capita health expenditure, GDP, population ageing, medical density and environmental quality. In fact, on the one hand ...
the sharp upper bounds and the sharp lower bounds of the largest eigenvalues $lambda_1$, the least eigenvalue $lambda_n$, the second largest eigenvalue $lambda_2$, the spread and the separator among all firefly graphs on $n$ vertices are determined.
Monte-Carlo Tree Search and Upper Confidence Bounds provided huge improvements in computer-Go. In this paper, we test the generality of the approach by experimenting on another game, Havannah, which is known for being especially difficult for computers. We show that the same results hold, with slight differences related to the absence of clearly known patterns for the game of Havannah, in spite...
The standard data envelopment analysis (DEA) method assumes that the values for inputs and outputs are exact. While DEA assumes exact data, the existing imprecise DEA (IDEA) assumes that the values for some inputs and outputs are only known to lie within bounded intervals, and other data are known only up to an order. In many real applications of DEA, there are cases in which some of the input ...
The pathological activated partial thromboplastin time test is a data that we can find in all clinical laboratories routinely. The hemato-coagulative clinical case here reported aims to point out how the laboratory can provide a correct diagnosis by methodological rational setting and, consequently, carry out an appropriate therapy, or reassure the patient that the pathological data will not ca...
One of the defining properties of deep learning is that models are chosen to have many more parameters than available training data. In light of this capacity for overfitting, it is remarkable that simple algorithms like SGD reliably return solutions with low test error. One roadblock to explaining these phenomena in terms of implicit regularization, structural properties of the solution, and/o...
let $g$ be a finite group and $d_2(g)$ denotes the probability that $[x,y,y]=1$ for randomly chosen elements $x,y$ of $g$. we will obtain lower and upper bounds for $d_2(g)$ in the case where the sets $e_g(x)={yin g:[y,x,x]=1}$ are subgroups of $g$ for all $xin g$. also the given examples illustrate that all the bounds are sharp.
This paper proposes a parametric implementation of the Hansen and Jagan-nathan (1991) volatility bounds based on log-normal distributions. We obtain analytical expressions for the bounds as well as stochastic discount factors. Using this framework we analyze the role of preferences in determining risk premia. We show that neither risk aversion nor in general determine the elasticity of intertem...
This paper describes an approach for generating lower bounds for the Curriculumbased course timetabling problem, which was presented at the International Timetabling Competition (ITC-2007, Track 3). So far, several methods based on integer linear programming have been proposed for computing lower bounds of this minimization problem. We present a new partition-based approach that is based on the...
