本稿は，産業集積の持続・変革におけるキープレイヤーの役割とそのプロセスモデルを究明することを目的とする。まず，産業集積の持続における中核的な役割を担うリンケージ企業に焦点を当て，リンケージ企業に関する既存研究を概観する。次に，リンケージ企業に関する議論が地域完結主義に終始していることを批判的に検討したうえで，商業論，バリューネットワーク論，そしてコミュニティー・キャピタル概念といった最新の社会ネットワーク理論の知見を借り，地域性に拘らない産業集積の変革を遂行する新たな主役として「商人的調整者」を登場させる。それから，彼が主役となり地理的制約を超える新しい産業集積の創生の仮説的プロセスモデルを提案してから，中国無錫市の電動自転車産業集積の事例を通して，当の仮説的プロセスモデルの適合性を確認したうえで，精緻化を試みる。
