Tolerance interval is a random interval that contains a proportion of the population with a determined confidence level and is applied in many application fields such as reliability and quality control. In this educational paper, we investigate different methods for computing tolerance interval for the binomial random variable using the package Tolerance in statistical software R.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based RAPD profiles, in conjunction with six primers, of Karnal bunt of wheat and rice bunt exhibiting distinct polymorphic DNA. A total of 84 RAPD loci were observed on polyacrylamide gel for both Tilletia sps. Out of 84, 16 loci were found monomorphic, while other 68 loci were unique. Usefulness of random primers was also checked with other seed borne fungal pa...
This study is the first report on genetic differences between isolates of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis from a single patient. We describe a simultaneous infection with genetically distinct isolates of P. brasiliensis in a patient with chronic paracoccidioidomycosis. The clinical isolates were obtained from lesions in different anatomical sites and were characterised by random amplified polymor...
1. Introduction Variation coupled to selection is the hallmark of natural evolution. Although there is no full agreement concerning the best way to create variation , mutation or recombination (1), computational simulation studies have demonstrated the importance of homologous recombination in the evolution of biological systems (2,3). As compared to random mutagenesis, recombi-nation may be ad...
R-motifs, formed from categorical instead of quantitative sequences, are used to characterise texts with respect to parts of speech as a syntactic feature. The attempt to classify the end-of-year speeches of the Italian presidents by means of not more than some parameters of the of the thus formed motifs fails. Instead, it could be shown that Ord's criteria and two other characteristics of the ...
Molecular genetic maps are commonly constructed by analyzing the segregation of restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) among the progeny of a sexual cross. Here we describe a new DNA polymorphism assay based on the amplification of random DNA segments with single primers of arbitrary nucleotide sequence. These polymorphisms, simply detected as DNA segments which amplify from one pare...
Tandemly repeated DNA sequences generated from single synthetic oligonucleotide monomers are useful for many purposes. With conventional ligation procedures low yields and random orientation of oligomers makes cloning of defined repeated sequences difficult. We solved these problems using 2 bp overhangs to direct orientation and random incorporation of linkers containing restriction sites durin...
A random walk on a lattice is one of the most fundamental models in probability theory. When the random walk is inhomogenous and its inhomogeniety comes from an ergodic stationary process, the walk is called a random walk in a random environment (RWRE). The basic questions such as the law of large numbers (LLN), the central limit theorem (CLT), and the large deviation principle (LDP) are ...
In this paper, we investigate a new type of random $F$-contraction and obtain a common random fixed point theorem for a pair of self stochastic mappings in a separable Banach space. The existence of a unique solution for nonlinear fractional random differential equation is proved under suitable conditions.
