This brief analyzes the performance of a new type of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) architecture. The approach contemplates stretching the analog signal in time prior to digitization. Its benefits include an increase in the effective sampling rate and the input bandwidth, and a reduction in the sampling-jitter noise of the digitizer. It builds on the recent demonstration of high-speed anal...

Hybrid Filter Banks allow wide-band, high frequency conversion. All existing design methods suppose that the input signal is band-limited and that each sub-band signal is sampled at 1/M times the effective Nyquist frequency of the input signal 1/T . To avoid aliasing in the sampling process, an analog anti-aliasing filter should be used in order to eliminate noise in frequency bands in which th...

Few works have been done about the dependency of the quantization noise with the sampling rate for uniform quantizers. Some of these works have considered the problem from a determinis tic point of view while others study it from a stochastic one, having explained the noise behavior in some specific cases. By using computer simulations with a sinusoidal input signal, here we show that the quant...

We analyze the impact of the sampling interval on the estimation of Kramers-Moyal coefficients. We obtain the finite-time expressions of these coefficients for several standard processes. We also analyze extreme situations such as the independence and no-fluctuation limits that constitute useful references. Our results aim at aiding the proper extraction of information in data-driven analysis.

Consider classes of signals which have a ̄nite number of degrees of freedom per unit of time, and call this number the rate of innovation of a signal. Examples of signals with ̄nite rate of innovation include stream of Diracs (e.g. the Poisson process), non-uniform splines and piecewise polynomials. Eventhough these signals are not bandlimited, we show that they can be sampled uniformly at (or ab...

This paper presents the ECG-dedicated algorithm performing the signal sampling at the variable rate. The local value of sampling interval is controlled by the bandwidth function representing the medical data density. The achieved data compression ratio equals 3 and the distortion level is very low. Practical considerations on adaptive antialias filtering and hardware implementation complete the...

In this paper, we focus on energy disaggregation at low-sampling rates (at 6sec and 1min) and use only active power measurements for training and testing. Specifically, we develop two algorithms: one is a low-complexity, supervised approach based on Decision Trees and another is an unsupervised method based on Dynamic Time Warping. Both proposed algorithms share common pre-classification steps....

Many communication systems involve high bandwidth, while sparse, radio frequency (RF) signals. Working with high frequency signals requires appropriate system-level components such as high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADC). In particular, an analog signal should be sampled at rates that meet the Nyquist requirements to avoid aliasing. However, implementing high-speed ADC devices can be a...
