Human life has been affected by new communications in recent years. The development of cyberspace has led to businesses embracing social networks. The appearance of the cyberspace and features offered by information technology (IT) has provided hope, wishes, opportunities, and challenges for business owners. Organizations create opportunities for improving productivity, market share and value, ...

An understanding of cognitive control is crucial for understanding high-level cognition and delineating the functional role of prefrontal cortex in supporting complex cognitive operations. In this paper, we approach the problem of cognitive control by examining the control needs of SHRUTI, a neurally plausible and cognitively motivated model of inference and decision-making. It is shown that pr...

We preset a network model for context-based retrieval allowing for integrating domain knowledge into document retrieval. Based on the premise that the results provided by a network model employing spreading activation are equivalent to the results of a vector space model, we create a network representation of a document collection for retrieval. We extended this well explored approach by blendi...

Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is consolidating its role as a new paradigm and driving force within computer science that exploits the opportunities to deploy distributed intelligent systems supported by new technology. Most of the developments related to AmI so far are concentrated either in the healthcare (e.g. smart homes for the elderly), or automotive (smart cars) sectors. This paper provides ...

Changes in economic activity on a global scale affect organizations due to modifications on their decision criteria, but also for the permanent character of the change. This situation implies an increase of the competition and also the appearance of new markets and opportunities. On the other hand the innovation not only offers major possibilities to guarantee the organization’s survival but al...

An empirical study of human expert reasoning processes is presented. Its purpose is to test a model of how a human expert’s cognitive system learns to detect, and does detect, pertinent data and hypotheses. This process is called pertinence generation. The model is based on the phenomenon of spreading activation within semantic networks. Twenty-two radiologists were asked to produce diagnoses f...

This work presents a method for generating intuitive visualizations for high-level user queries to an hierarchical surface-based neuroanatomical atlas. We combine a spreading activation approach for computing focus and context in an ontology with a specific level-of-detail strategy for hierarchical structures. We demonstrate our method on an atlas of the bee brain.

importance of sediment storage has been expressed as being higher than that of water in floodwater spreading networks. to determine the contribution of each geological formation in sediment input of gachsaran floodwater spreading station after 12 years of flood spreading, sediment sampling was conducted in 16 points and 0-15 cm depth of the field. using dry sieve analysis, all samples were anal...
