the effects of different storage temperatures and times on germination rate, malondialdehyde (mda), superoxide dismutase (sod), peroxidase (pod) and catalase (cat) activities in jatropha curcas l. seed were investigated. the results showed that germination rates of seeds stored at room temperature and 4°c for 1 month was significantly higher than those stored for 3 months at -20 and -80°c. mda ...

PURPOSE Temperature is a key measure in human red blood cell concentrate (RBC) quality control. A precise description of transient temperature distributions in RBC units removed from steady storage exposed to ambient temperature is at present unknown. Magnetic resonance thermometry was employed to visualize and analyse RBC warm up processes, to describe time courses of RBC mean, surface and cor...

The extracts of Piper sarmentosum, a medicinal plant, are being used to prepare phytopharmaceuticals while the information about chemical kinetics of constituents of the extract is unavailable to assign precise shelf life (t90) and find optimum storage conditions of the product for patient safety, and to avoid economic repercussions of launching an unstable product. The extract was exposed to t...

Introduction / objectives One of the variables which interfere in the maintenance of sterility in the materials is the storage. There are many official and not-official recommendations for temperature and air humidity control in the storage area, however without any theoretical or experimental basis. Some hospitals do not have a system that makes the control of temperature and humidity possible...

Mechanical characterization of a two-dimensional Thermal Energy Storage (TES) composite structure that combines the heat storage capability with structural functionality was carried out experimentally. Static and fatigue experiments were conducted for the composite structure under three-point bending at both room temperature and elevated temperature. An energy method model was developed to pred...

Background: Umbilical cord blood has been increasingly used as an alternate source of hematopoietic stem cells in the treatment of Hematologic malignancies and life-threatening diseases. The success of engraftment and survival of patients after cord blood transplantation highly depend on either the number of infused total nucleated cells (TNCs) or the number of CD34+ cells per kilogram of recip...

Lime fruits has including economic and nutritional value but the fresh consumption of this fruit compare to processing methods is less, because of its low storage capacity. This research has been designed for study the effects of different concentrations of salicylic acid (0, 1, 2 and 3 mM) on quantitative and qualitative characteristics of lime fruit in storage period (0, 20, 40 and 60 days)...

We propose a new generation of materials to maximize reversible H2 storage at room temperature and modest pressures (<20 bars). We test these materials using grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations with a first-principles-derived force field and find that the Li pillared graphene sheet system can take up 6.5 mass% of H2 (a density of 62.9 kg/m(3) at 20 bars and room temperature. This satisfies ...

INTRODUCTION Studies about vitamin D [25(OH)D] stability in plasma are limited and preanalytical variables such as tube type may affect results. We aimed to evaluate effect of storage conditions, sample type and some preanalytical variables on vitamin D concentration. MATERIALS AND METHODS Blood samples from 15 healthy subjects were centrifuged at different temperatures and stored under diffe...

The effect of temperature, time of storage, and presence of air bubbles in specimens for blood gas analysis was studied. The results show that air bubbles in a 10% proportion are undesirable because of significant elevation in the PO2, and the storage of anaerobic blood samples at room temperature (25 degrees C) is acceptable when measurements are done within the first 20 minutes.
