Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...

All the entire solutions to the maximal surface equation in certain 3-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds, obeying the null energy condition, are obtained. Thus, we solve new Calabi–Bernstein problems. As a consequence, the corresponding parametric versions are also given. The behaviour of this Calabi– Bernstein property with respect to an special family of C2-perturbations of Lorentz–Minkowski sp...

Cosmological perturbations on a manifold admitting signature change are studied. The background solution consists in a Friedmann-LemaitreRobertsonWalker (FLRW) Universe filled by a constant scalar field playing the role of a cosmological constant. It is shown that no regular solution exist satisfying the junction conditions at the surface of change. The comparison with similar studies in quantu...

Climate change is expected to increase stream temperatures and the projected warming may alter the spatial extent of habitat for cold-water fish and other aquatic taxa. Recent studies have proposed that stream thermal sensitivities, derived from short-term air temperature variations, can be employed to infer future stream warming due to longterm climate change. However, this approach does not c...

We consider perturbations of the Hamiltonian flow associated with the geodesic flow on a surface with constant negative curvature. We prove that, under a small perturbation, not necessarily of Hamiltonian character, the SRB measure associated with the flow exists and is analytic in the strength of the perturbation. An explicit example of “thermostatted” dissipative dynamics is considered.

Characteristics of small amplitude plane waves within the medium separated by the plane discontinuity into two half spaces are analysed. The approximation of the ideal one-fluid magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is used. The discontinuities with the nonzero mass flux across them are mainly examined. These are fast or slow shock waves and rotational discontinuities. The dispersion equation for MHD wave...

We consider volume-preserving perturbations of the time-one map of the geodesic flow of a compact surface with negative curvature. We show that if the Liouville measure has Lebesgue disintegration along the center foliation then the perturbation is itself the time-one map of a smooth volume-preserving flow, and that otherwise the disintegration is necessarily atomic.
