Ultrathin 2D Co3O4 and Co3V2O8 nanosheets have been produced from our modified hydrothermal technique (MHT). Both the materials have been proved to be extraordinary electrode materials for pseudocapacitors. The neat nanosheets of Co3O4 and Co3V2O8 exhibit a record specific capacitance value of 1256 F g(-1) and 4194 F g(-1) at 1 A g(-1) current density, respectively.

We demonstrate an unusual formation of large 2D nanosheets from nanomosaic building blocks of anatase TiO(2) nanosheets with exposed (001) facets. It is proposed that large PVP molecules adsorbed on the (001) facets serve as the linker that brings building blocks together, at the same time prevents them from stacking along the c-axis.

Low turn-on field of 2.3 V/µm was found for the emission current density of 10 µA/cm2 from 2D porous ZnO nanosheets. High current density of 0.76 mA/cm2 was drawn at an applied field of 4.1 V/µm.
