In this paper magnetically-coupled human body communications (MHBC) is investigated. In human body communications (HBC) the human body is the transmission medium through which wireless sensors and actuators in, on or in close proximity to the human body exchange information. MHBC, unlike the more common galvanic and capacitive coupled HBC, is less affected by the proximity to the surrounding en...
In the paper, a small antenna for 2.4 GHz body-centric wireless communications is proposed. With the folded ground and U-shaped slot, the antenna has an improved efficiency of 56.5% when it is very close to human body. In addition, the antenna has attractive radiation patterns for body-centric wireless communications.
Abstract We propose an embedded synthetic relay transport protein (RTP) approach for communication between the external environment (blood vessels) and internal targeted nanonetworks (cells/tissues) within intra-body network. In fact, we designed a bioengineered protein-based facilitated diffusing to be alternative in case of biological proteins (such as channels, e.g. Pores) failing. The propo...
This paper describes the development and evaluation of an on-body flexible antenna designed for in-body application, as well communications at ISM UWB frequency bands. The is performed via electromagnetic simulations using Dassault Simulia CST Studio Suite. A planar tissue layer model, a human voxel model from abdominal area, are used to study characteristics next tissues. Power flow analysis p...
The Internet of Bodies (IoB) is a network formed by wearable, implantable, ingestible, and injectable smart devices to collect physiological, behavioral, structural information from the human body. Thus, IoB technology can revolutionize quality life using these context-rich data in myriad smart-health applications. Radio frequency (RF) transceivers have been typically preferred due their availa...
This article discusses the fundamental architectures for optical-wireless-systems biomedical-ap-plications. After summarizing main applications and reporting their requirements, we describe characteristics of transdermal in-body optical channels (OCs) as well challenges that they impose in design communication systems. Specifically, provide three possible communications, namely electro-optical ...
