The wire scanners are used for a measurement of the very small beam size and the emittance in Accelerator Test Facility (ATF). They are installed in the extraction beam line of ATF damping ring. The extracted beam emittance are εx=1.3x10 m.rad, εy=1.7x10 m.rad with 2x10 electrons/bunch intensity and 1.3GeV energy[1]. The wire scanners scan the beam by a tungsten wire with beam repetition 0.78Hz...

We demonstrate experimentally the existence of competing focusing and defocusing nonlinearities in a double-resonant system with quadratic nonlinear response. We use an array of periodically poled coupled optical waveguides and observe inhibition of the nonlinear beam self-action independent on power. This inhibition is demonstrated in both regimes of normal and anomalous beam diffraction.

acquaintance with the different anatomical variations of the arterial supply of the gallbladder is of great importance in hepatobiliary surgical procedures. a rare variation of the hepatobiliary arterial system was found during anatomical dissection of a female iranian cadaver. two cystic arteries were present, the first arising directly from the right hepatic artery and the second from the gas...

Beam commissioning of the new proton therapy system for University of Tsukuba was started in September 2000. The present system employs a synchrotron with a maximum energy of 250MeV and two rotating gantries. The beam was successfully accelerated up to 250MeV and transported to the irradiation nozzles. The position of the beam extracted from the synchrotron was confirmed to be very stable and s...

In present study, a mathematical model of the vehicle–floating slab track (FST) interaction is established to investigate the coupled behaviour of vehicle–track system. The FST is modelled as the double Euler -Bernoulli beam including the rail and slab. The railway vehicle is simplified as a multi-rigid-body model. The wheel–rail interface is treated using a nonlinear Hertzian contact model, co...

The ball and beam system is one of the most popular laboratory setups for control education. In this paper, we design a fuzzy PD cascade controller for a ball and beam system using Asexual Reproduction Optimization (ARO) technique. The ball & beam system consists of a servo motor, a grooved beam, and a rolling ball. This system utilizes a servo motor to control ball’s position on the beam. Chan...

The design of a compact double-pass shear mode acousto-optic modulator for high power operation in the UV is presented. Using a spherical mirror retroreflector in the second pass to correct for beam deflection, changes in beam position and angle during frequency tuning can be eliminated. The use of the shear mode acousto-optic interaction offers several key advantages, but the strain-induced bi...

We present a slow-light system based on dual Raman absorption resonances in warm rubidium vapor. Each Raman absorption resonance is produced by a control beam in an off-resonant system. This system combines all optical control of the Raman absorption and the low-dispersion broadening properties of the double Lorentzian absorption slow light. The bandwidth, group delay, and central frequency of ...
