Bioactive peptides such as bradykinin potentiating factor (BPF), have, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and ameliorative effects in chronic diseases and play a potential role in cancer prevention. It is known that the liver and kidney accumulate inorganic mercury upon exposure, which often leads to mercury intoxication in these organs. In this study, we investigated the effec...

Oxidative stress induced by mercuric chloride (5 mg/kg body weight i.p.) in mice substantially increases the lipid peroxidation level along with corresponding decrease in the reduced glutathione and various antioxidant enzymes in liver and increase in serum transaminases activity. Supplementation of Spirulina (800 mg/kg body weight orally, in olive oil, along with mercuric chloride) for 40 days...

Background: Since heavy metals can accumulate in the tissues of aquatic organisms, they can cause a range of hazardous effects which can become harmful to humans. The aim of this study was to investigate the acute effects of some heavy metals as potential dangerous substances by assessing the mortality effects of Mercuric Chloride (HgCl2), Lead Chloride (PbCl2) and Zinc Sulfate (ZnSO4) pollutan...

Effects of chemical and physical preservation of blood on changes in ammonia concentration during storage were studied with samples containing init ial concentrations of .143, .316, .771, .816, and 1.308 mg ammonia-N per 100 ml blood. A saturated solution of mercuric chloride was added to the blood in amounts of 3.33, 5.00, 6.66, 8.33 or 10.00%. Deionized water was added to control samples in t...

Human thymocytes and peripheral blood lymphocytes were separated on the basis of density on Percoll gradients and the different cell populations tested regarding DNA synthesis after addition of mercuric chloride. Thymocytes with a density of 1.065-1.067 g/ml and peripheral blood lymphocytes with a density of 1.063-1.065 g/ml were maximally stimulated with mercuric chloride as well as with mitog...

The histochemical technique of autometallography was used in the present study to demonstrate the zonal and tubular localization of inorganic mercury in the kidneys of unilaterally nephrectomized (NPX) and sham-operated (SO) rats given either a nontoxic 0.5 mumol/kg or a toxic 2.5 mumol/kg dose of mercuric chloride 10 days after surgery. Deposits were found in the cortex and outer stripe of the...

Mercuric chloride was introduced per Os in albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) as the LD50 (9.26 mg/kg b.w.). The assessment of mercuric toxicity done both after acute (0.926 b.w.) and sub-acute (0.033 treatment, while Panax ginseng also (10 separately. treatment significantly increases mercury retention liver blood serum along with increase weight, alone caused significant decrease weight blood. I...

Both alkylarylalkynes and diarylalkynes 1 are converted into the α-diketones 2 in good yield by the use of mercuric salts, e.g., mercuric nitrate hydrate or mercuric triflate, in the presence of water. Other mercuric salts, e.g., sulfate, chloride, acetate, or trifluoroacetate, do not provide the diketone product. A possible mechanism is proposed.
