The subgroup of the Schur multiplier of a finite group G consisting of all cohomology classes whose restriction to any abelian subgroup of G is zero is called the Bogomolov multiplier of G. We prove that if G is quasisimple or almost simple, its Bogomolov multiplier is trivial except for the case of certain covers of PSL(3, 4).
In this note, we announce a new result concerning functions operating on multiplier algebras. We begin by introducing the following notation. Let G be a LCA group with dual group I\ M(G) will denote the algebra of finite, regular Borel measures on G. Let M0(G) = {M E M(G)\ jl vanishes at <*> on T}. If 1 < p < °°, let M (G) denote the class of multiplier transformations on L (G). If T G Mp(G), f...
For a family of functions G, we define the G-variation, which generalizes power variation; G-variation swaps, which pay the G-variation of the returns on an underlying share price F ; and share-weighted G-variation swaps, which pay the integral of F with respect to G-variation. For instance, the case G(x) = x reduces these notions to, respectively, quadratic variation, variance swaps, and gamma...
Given an inductive limit group G = lim → Gβ , β ∈ Γ where each Gβ is locally compact, and a continuous two–cocycle ρ ∈ Z(G, T) , we construct a C*–algebra L for which the twisted discrete group algebra C∗ ρ (Gd) is imbedded in its multiplier algebra M(L) , and the representations of L are identified with the strong operator continuous ρ–representations of G . If any of these representations are...
Let G denote a locally compact Hausdorff abelian group. Then a bounded linear operator T from L^2(G) into L^2(G) is a bounded multiplier operator if, under the Fourier transform on L^2(G ), for each function f in L^2(G), T(f) changes into a bounded function U times the Fourier transform of f. Then U is called the multiplier of T. An unbounded multiplier operator has a similar definition, but it...
let $g$ be a finite $p$-group and $n$ be a normal subgroup of $g$ with $|n|=p^n$ and $|g/n|=p^m$. a result of ellis (1998) shows that the order of the schur multiplier of such a pair $(g,n)$ of finite $p$-groups is bounded by $ p^{frac{1}{2}n(2m+n-1)}$ and hence it is equal to $ p^{frac{1}{2}n(2m+n-1)-t}$ for some non-negative integer $t$. recently, the authors have characterized...
in this note, we aim to show that several known generalizations of frames are equivalent to the continuous frame defined by ali et al. in 1993. indeed, it is shown that these generalizations can be considered as an operator between two hilbert spaces.
let $g$ be a $p$-group of nilpotency class $k$ with finite exponent $exp(g)$ and let $m=lfloorlog_pk floor$. we show that $exp(m^{(c)}(g))$ divides $exp(g)p^{m(k-1)}$, for all $cgeq1$, where $m^{(c)}(g)$ denotes the c-nilpotent multiplier of $g$. this implies that $exp( m(g))$ divides $exp(g)$, for all finite $p$-groups of class at most $p-1$. moreover, we show that our result is an improvement...
abstract the purpose of this study was to find out the effect of applying the principles of group-dynamic assessment (g-da) on learning of conditional structures in english by iranian efl learners at the intermediate level, which according to the formal educational system in iran, includes students who are in their second year of studying in high schools of koohdasht city. this study was a qua...
C is called a completely bounded multiplier (= Herz-Schur multiplier) if the transformation defined on the linear span K(G) of {λ(x), x ∈ G} by x∈G f (x)λ(x) → x∈G f (x)ϕ(x)λ(x) is completely bounded (in short c.b.) on the C *-algebra C * λ (G) which is generated by λ (C * λ (G) is the closure of K(G) in B(ℓ 2 (G), ℓ 2 (G)).) One of our main results (stated below as Theorem 0.1) gives a simple ...
