We investigate the end state of gravitational collapse of null fluid in higher dimensional space-times. Both naked singularities and black holes are shown to be developing as final outcome of the collapse. The naked singularity spectrum in collapsing Vaidya region (4D) gets covered continuously with introduction of extra dimensions. PACS number(s): 04.20.Dw, 04.20.Cv, 04.70.Bw

By solving the problem of very long test time on reliability qualification for Light-emitting Diode (LED) products, the accelerated degradation test with a thermal overstress at a proper range is regarded as a promising and effective approach. For a comprehensive survey of the application of step-stress accelerated degradation test (SSADT) in LEDs, the thermal, photometric, and colorimetric pro...

We present a novel spontaneous collapse model where size is no longer the property of a physical system which determines its rate of collapse. Instead, we argue that the rate of spontaneous localization should depend on a system’s quantum Integrated Information (QII), a novel physical property which describes a system’s capacity to act like a quantum observer. We introduce quantum Integrated In...

A scale-invariant spectrum of isocurvature perturbations is generated during collapse in the ekpyrotic scaling solution in models where multiple fields have steep negative exponential potentials. The scale invariance of the spectrum is realized by a tachyonic instability in the isocurvature field. This instability drives the scaling solution to the late time attractor that is the old ekpyrotic ...

fragility curves represent the probabilities that structural damages, under various levels of seismic excitation, will exceed the specified damage states by means of earthquake intensity damage relations. conceptual aspects related to seismic vulnerability, damage and risk evaluation are discussed first, together with a short review of the most widely used possibilities for the seismic evaluati...

In active seismic zones, such as the Peruvian coast, tools for predicting potential negative impacts of earthquakes are essential planning mitigation, emergency, and recovery transportation facilities. For instance, capacity a road bridge network after event to carry traffic flow depends on degree expected damage related repair costs downtime. This paper determines vulnerability highway bridges...

A finite relativistic model for free particles, which describes the collapse of the statevector, is presented. The interaction of particles with a classical fluctuating field w(x) causes collapse, as in the (so far) physically satisfactory nonrelativistic Continuous Spontaneous Localization (CSL) model. In previous relativistic models, where w(x) has a white noise spectrum, collapse is accompan...

Nowadays it is common to use the fragility curves in probabilistic methods to determine the collapse probability resulting from an earthquake. The uncertainties exist in intensity and frequency content of the earthquake records are considered as the most effective parameters in developing the fragility curves. The pulse-type records reported in the near-fault regions might lead to the major dam...

nowadays, as a result of increased terrorist and bomb attacks throughout the globe in the vicinity of strategic buildings, designing these structures against impact loads, particularly the blast-related ones, has been taken into more consideration. the current procedure for designing the structure against an explosion is a design against the local failure of the current elements in the first st...
